Mass effect. After the hype around mass effect 2, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I bought an xbox, got it on gamefly, and prepared for an epic adventure through faraway lands. I got to the point where you became a chosen one or whatever, did a couple of planet exploration missions, then turned it off. Just...no.

Borderlands. After hearing it was a mix of fallout gameplay with awesome online multiplayer, I thought this was the game for me. Turns out it's just a storyless game with awkward controls and an OCD problem. just...no

FF7 and 8. I know I'll get the wrath of God for dissing 7 but I just couldn't get into it. I played through the entire first act of the game, the city crashed, I went to a chocobo farm, and pretty much just walked away from the game after that. Maybe one day that vile temptress will lure me back in and change my mind. I don't expect 8 will be so lucky. That was the day I realized that all of Final Fantasy's best days were behind it. The Super Nintendo era was truly the height of Square's lifespan, with FF4-6 and Chrono Trigger. All completely awesome.

More recently, Tigg'r PGA 08. I played the new online game when it was just a beta, and had fun with it, then they started charging for 75% of the content and it was easy to get bored when suddenly I couldn't go mining for achievements. So I picked up 08 super-cheap, I thought it's only a couple years old, under five bucks, how can I go wrong? Easily. The menus are horrific, the load times are unbearable, EVEN BETWEEN MENU SCREENS, and the best testament to the realism they achieve is that - just like in real life - you think you're doing the exact same motions the exact same way but the results are wildly different and make you want to punch your TV.

Mega Man and Bass for the GBA. I actually played all the way through to the last boss before, but picking it up again recently, I have no idea how. In order to make the graphics not-too-small for the screen, they zoom in. But that means you only see about 2/3 of the play area. It makes some bosses pretty much impossible to beat cause you don't know where they are.

Metal Arms seemed like a good game and got decent reviews, but the controls are just unmanageable. I like the game but I don't like fighting the controller and the camera at the same time. Sorry.

Mercs 2 and Oblivion

Oblivion is probably a good game but the fighting animations and movement turned me off. Mercenaries 2 promised you could blow verything up but how you do so and the gameplay itself is terrible.
yes, very much yes, I agree completely.

DA:O for sure. I just can't get into it. One day I'll beat it just so that I don't have it in my Steam library for nothing (Maybe)

COD4: MW2 - Wow... what a waste of 60 dollars.

Deathspank - The quests were all just so boring and repetitive and the flavor text and dialogue weren't very funny.

Psychonauts - Again, didn't find it as funny or charming as everyone says the game is. At least I got it cheap.

GTA4 - Boring activities, 'realistic' (read: crappy) driving, need I say more?

I'm sure there are more.. but that's enough for this thread.

Killzone 2 (Never played the first one) and God of War 1 and 2(The HD remake for the PS3 that comes with the silm) I got these 2 games cause I was told they were one of the best games on the PS3. Instead what I get is a lesson in what "GENERIC FIRST PERSON SHOOTER" means, and a crappy version of Dynasty warriors with some blood and tits.
I am sorry but I have played Dynasty warriors and I have played god of war and god of war is far superior to dynasty warriors.

Half Life 2 just didn't do anything for me, I mean I'm sure that if I had played it when it came out I would be more forgiving but I recently picked up the orange box for like fifteen bucks because of all the good things I've heard but just didn't like it. As for games that I had high hopes for and were genuinely terrible, Two Worlds takes the cake for that.

Two fucking Worlds. My friend had convinced me it was going to the greatest RPG ever conceived. Oh god was it horrible. I really did try to like it though, it just... just sucked so much.

Every COD game, Every Bethesda Game and every BioWare game. Oh, and every RPG except System Shock 2 and Vampire Bloodlines.
Not sure why is the case with BioWare's games and RPG's, I guess I never understood them, apart from the two games I have already mentioned.

Resident Evil 5. After the masterpiece that was RE4, I was stoked for 5. But it was boring. Story was too strung out and full of plot holes, tried to hard to be a Hollywood movie, and most of all wasnt scary. It was so boring.

P.S. Chris looked like he was on more steroids then A-Rod
five was ruined for me because of a retarded control scheme compared to four and a really stupid inventory system.i got killed about 3 times trying to change weapons when i finally just gave the game up...terrible.

Morrowind: I loved Fallout 3, and I enjoyed Oblivion, so you think I'd enjoy the one everyone says is better, right? To this day I'm not sure what game everyone else was playing, but it certainly isn't the broken one I played. Same deal with Mass Effect, minus the Fallout and Oblivion parts of course.

Killzone 1 and 2, they looked like fun, I got them and hated them both so very much. I pushed to 3/4ths of the way through 2 and gave up. It's just not a fun game.

Star Wars - Republic Commando.

I thought it would be an action heavy, somewhat gritty FPS.

Just turned out to be another mediocre attempt to capitalize on the Star Wars franchise.

Final Fantasy XIII. I was so hyped for this game (me being a Final Fantasy...fan) Especially after XII was so revolutionary and well done. I got it on release day and it ended up being the opposite of everything I was hoping for. I found the characters mind-numbingly cliche, the story non existent, and the combat was a thumb-war training session. I once had a conversation with someone in a different room (wireless controller) and just kept tapping x during a boss battle. I walked back into the room afterwards to find I had almost defeated the thing with my party suffering any damage. It killed any hope of me buying a new final fantasy game

You didn't like Kilzone 2? o_O
I never really cared for it either. It was F.E.A.R. 2 meets CoD 4 but in the future; Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but they didn't pull it off as well as it could have been pulled off.
