I see this thread, and all I see are people who are more interested in the politics surrounding gaming than gaming itself.

But that is your choice to make.
Because those politics have an impact on gaming. If we keep rewarding the companies for their asshattery, gaming quality and variety is going to suffer for it.

Me, I'm in the "screw EA-camp". If I buy your game full-fucking-price, I get to enjoy it fully. Beyond that, I don't owe you a goddamn thing, and if you're going to be a dick about it, I won't be doing business with you anymore. I don't want to reward bad behaviour.

Modern Warfare 3. Not nearly enough changes to make it worth an expansion pack, let alone a fully fucking priced game. Utterly ridiculous.

Red Faction: Armageddon. Taking a perfect template for sandbox fun and awesomeness, adding to the weaponry, and then putting it in a cramped environment with awful characters, environments and enemies, and flat out eradicating all fun.
Akin to tuning and repainting an Aston Martin, and then driving it to the rough side of town and leaving it there with signs saying 'Smash me'.

Has been said countless times, but hey...me too: not buying EA games because of Origin (that includes ME3).

Not buying CoD and CoD like games because I'm not into that sorta thing (especially online multiplayer). Oh and I will never for the life of me buy/ play a real life sports videogame that includes any kind of ball, whether big or small.

Mass Effect 3. Fuck EA and their Origin service. I don't need to play it. And I won't for as long as it requires Origin. I don't want to be forced to buy games through a faulty service. EA knows that Origin sucks. That's why Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be available on Steam. It's a new IP and they need to sell it to as many people they can. They know that PC gamers who don't have Origin yet will not install it for a new IP they don't know anything about. But Mass Effect is a famous series. They are counting on gamers to install Origin regardless of their thoughts about it. They are deliberately forcing their shitty service on PC gamers. They did it with Battlefield 3 for the same reason. They couldn't risk it with ToR because they knew how much Origin sucks and they spent a lot of money on ToR. That's why I'm not getting ME3. If they pulled all of their games from Steam and made them Origin exclusive, they would at least appear to be confident in Origin. The best thing to do however would be to release all their games on Steam and other services, and attract gamers with Origin exclusive DLC, discounts and things like that. That's how you attract new audience. Not by forcing them to use something they don't like, but by bribing them and making your service attractive and likeable.

I want to get Anno 2070 but with Ubisoft's limit of 3 installs and my plans to upgrade my machine multiple times in the near future I just don't see the point. They're making it hard to justify buying their own products.

Anything developed or published by Ubisoft. I can't stand their shitty customer service, draconian DRM and badmouthing of PC gamers.
This. It seems to me that nothing other than voting with your wallet will actually impact upon these companies. Having said that I find it hard to think that I would forgive Ubisoft even if they did change their ways (which let's face it is unlikely).

Anything by EA. When I was downloading the Kingdoms of Amalur demo on a console, before I even started the game, it said that it had to connect to the EA server or whatever. That reminded me that this was a game by EA, responsible for Origin and other awful practices in the gaming industry, so I immediately deleted the thing without even giving it a try.
