wow, none of you guys recommend deus ex or doom?

anyway;
half life and espically opfor
megaman (entire orginal series, x 1-6 and both legends games)
system shock 1 and 2
unreal tournament and 2k4
no more heroes
battlefield 2
pretty much every major resident evil game
all metriod games (espically metriod 3)
arc the lad 1-3
skies of arcadia (mention that to pretty much everyone with a wii or gc)
F.E.A.R.
dead space
painkiller

i agree with the suikoden recommendations. the first few were pretty good, their average jrpgs but theres just something about them that i like.

thats all that come to mind for the moment.

Recommend to who? It depends on the person's taste. This is basically just another "Post your favourite games" thread.

Having said that, one game I think most people could enjoy would be Mashed.

Fable, the first more than the second though I'm not sure why.
Morrowind, there's just too much to see an do in that game for it to ever get boring.
Oblivion, ditto.
Fallout 3, as above aswell as being incredibly immersive.
Portal, because it's Portal.
Totally agree about Oblivion and Fallout 3... I'm still obsessed with both of them! It's such agreat escape to just wander off into thier worlds and see what you'll stumble upon...

Never played Morrowind or the first Fable, will have to hunt them down...

Resident Evil 4 is very replayable too.

You absolutely must play Morrowind, in many ways it's better than Oblivion, if you can get past the obvious issues with it being a bit old.

No but you can get it on Xbox and it's backwards compatible, looks better aswell.

Supreme Commander (if your computer can run it... mine can, barely)
Soulstorm (Dawn of War)
System Shock 2

The STALKER games

I don't care about the glitches, I still love these games to death.

I would also say the Half-Life games but that seems to obvious.

Dead Rising best game ever!
Barely ever gets boring and it takes a long time to complete, survival mode takes 14 hours.

If you ever get a chance to play 'Shadow of Memories' aka 'Shadow of Destiny' (If you've even heard of this, you win a thing) I really recommend you do. It's a kind of time travel/adventure/mystery game in which you travel to various periods of history in a small German town to prevent your own murder. It sounds unbearable but the story is really quirky and it has one of the most original baddies ever, not to mention all the different ways you can go about preventing your demise.
wait wait wait...was this for the PS2? If so I am pretty sure I played it at a relatives house, I just didn't remember the name.

-Ogre Battle Series (especially Knight of Lodis)
-Bahamut Lagoon
-FF1-7
-FF Tactics (ps1/PSP version)
-Crisis Core
-God of war games
-Syphon Filter games
-Crysis games
-UT3
-Armored core games
-wipeout games
-Star Ocean 1 and 2
-FEAR platinum edition (FEAR 1 and the 2 expansions)
-Zone of the Enders games
-Mega man original and X series
-Chrono Trigger
-Killer Instinct
-Soldier of Fortune 1

um...I got more but my brain isnt working too well today...damn sundays..

Portal, to quote Yahtzee; "This is the most fun you'll have with your PC until they invent a force feedback codpiece".

LittleBigPlanet, pure awesome when played with a friend.

Team Fortress 2, possibly the best online shooter ever.

Warcraft III, endless amounts of custom games and incredibly easy to mod.

Diablo II, simple and wonderful Hack n' Slash action.

Yup, PS2 indeed. I think there might have been an XBOX port at some point but it was probably canceled after the PS2 version sold three copies. You'' remember it because of the most horrifically tall and blonde bloke you play as, with the most offensively inoffensive voice of all time. Looked suspiciously like Raiden from MGS2, probably was considering it was developed by Konami.
