I hate, HATE, [HEADING=2]LOATHE[/HEADING] the assumption that we all have romantic partners in these threads. Are you really that satisfied with making me feel like a loser? If you're such hot stuff that you can get a romantic partner, why don't you spend a little more time with them, and stop talking about it on the internet?
Hey man, I didn't know you'd take it so personally. And, of course I wouldn't assume that everyone here has a partner since we're all uber geeky nerds who post on gaming forums and quite possibly have anime collections. I, for one am lucky to have a boyfriend who doesn't shun my habits, but I'm certainly not trying to rub that in your face. To everyone else, we're still losers.

She plays Farmville every single day but wont even try the infinitely better Harvest Moon.
I swear, if she did not have the most luscious curves I have seen outside of photoshopped mags I would ditch her irritating ass.
Holy fucking shit don't get me started on Farmville. Being someone who has a slight .... obsession isn't the right word... um, intense love, well I don't know, with Harvest Moon, it irritates the piss out of me when people insist on playing Farmville. I refuse to play it.

Maybe, Escapist members, we should find a way to talk this girl into playing Sunshine Islands. Although it may frustrate her considering it's an intense strategy game....

On topic: I believe that one day you will be able to convert her to actually GOOD games.

I game a lot more than my husband does lol... we've played together on occasion, but not much.
Really? I've had that problem before. I think that one day I might end up marrying a man that doesn't even care anything about video games. That's going to be comical.

It makes me a little sad when we can play together, but as long as they don't nag me about my habit, I think I'll be ok.

What could be more romantic than saving the one you love from underneath the deadly grip of a Hunter? Or distracting a Tank so that he/she can molotov it. Shame you always have two tag-alongs, but you have to make the most of the zombie apocalypse.

I've been able to play games with most of my girlfriends over the years, or at least, they played games.

It's one of my lesser criteria for girls when I want to go out with them. A partner who shares interests is a good catch.

Over-reacting. You're doing it right.

Seriously though, I don't have a significant other and I'm not highly offended by this. Do you get pissed off by someone who talks about owning a nice car or big house because you assume that they're subtly hinting that you're a loser? Calm down. I don't know if you've had a bad day and are just venting here, but seriously there's no need to get all pissy when someone talks about having fun with someone they care about and then ask if others have had similar experiences.

OT: I don't have a significant other at the moment, but I have fun playing with friends both online and off. Gaming is always more fun when you are interacting with someone beyond the game itself.

Me and my boyfriend don't really play games together much, mostly because he plays a lot of shooters and as much as I try, I just suck at shooters. So most of the time I just sit and watch him play. It works, I get to spend time with him and have the entertainment without the concentration/frustration of getting through the level. I've sat through SO many games with him. :)

I do play games on my own time too, but if he's playing I'd rather just watch.

Hmm...well, none of my relationships have ever lasted long enough for gaming to ever really become an issue, but I don't fret. Considering I have lost almost all desire to pursue relationships, I guess I can't offer you a success story. However, I can suggest some titles that you two might enjoy. I hear Fable III's co-op is pretty decent, and I would also suggest Team Fortress 2. World of Warcraft is pretty repetitive and grindy, so I would not recomend that.

I would guess lengthy RPGs are the best to play with your significant other... something like Sacred 2. Unfortunately, they don't really make those anymore. At least Fable 3 has the right idea by allowing couch co-op, which makes exploring Albion something you can do together. Games like Halo and L4D are good to play together but it can really imbue a competitive nature. "NO WAY, YOU STOLE MY KILL!" "GIMMIE THE DAMN HEALTH PACK!" and so on.

I've heard a lot of people praise Super Mario Galaxy for its co-op. It's not even really true co-op; but the fact someone can join and help by waggling the remote to collect stuff still counts for something, and most people like to feel they're helping no matter how small. Sometimes it's nice just to sit and watch, and with something like that you can occasionally input a little to feel like you're a part of what they're doing.

I have been introducing my significant other into gaming slowy but surely. So far they like what they see. I do not think I will be able to get them to play any kind of shooter or survival horror title any time soon though...

I wish I can get that far. But it's my fault with this GF. I tried to get her to play WoW on a free trial as that was what I was playing at the time. I instructed her on the controls. It looked like she got it. So I was planning on running her through quests to level up and my first instruction was, "follow me". It was over after that. Every five seconds, she was like, "Where are you?" After awhile, /facepalm myself gave me a bruise on my face. Turned her off on gaming. I shouldn't have started with that game and something as hard as keyboard/mouse co-ordination. I forgot that could be difficult for some people.

My fiance, and I are both female gamers and we met in chat rooms for awhile, but our romance didn't pick up until after I met her in person in an emergancy room for a broken arm by sheer coincidence (she was the surgical resident who reset my arm). We 1st began as a flirty couple of girls on Xbox live, owning some pretty bad kids at Halo 2. We even got banned once cause they complained that we were gross and unwanted even tho it was just harmless playful flirting. Until one day when our ban was lifted she asked me if i was seriously into other women, and I admitted to her I was bisexual and currently in a relationship, we backed off for awhile. Then the same year the guy i was dating got real violent with me and broke my arm after he threw me out of a moving vehicle and luckily someone called the police. I finally got to meet the girl I chatted with all that time in person by sheer coincidence. I didnt know where she lived, i didnt know what she looked like, or even what she did for a living. We just knew eachother's names and she looked at my Chart and just said "AlisonPrime360" (Not my gamer tag for Xbox live anymore) and I was shocked she knew my tag and I just said yes. After setting my arm and I was discharged she met me in the parking lot and asked me out one more time and I accepted, and 3 years later, We're set to Domesticly Partnered.
