Hey I was wondering if anybody could reccomend me a good computer for gaming. Hopefully not more than 1000$. I'm not the most tech saavy so I thought I'd visit the place that knows best.
I did some browsing and this caught my interest http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6713387&CatId=4928
Your thoughts on it? Good? Bad? Waste of money?

I heard from one of my friends that they're having a (somewhat) garage sale, selling his clothes for a new computer.
But what kind are you looking for exactly?

Find parts, make sure they work together, and enjoy.

Well what I'm looking for would be a computer 1000$ or less pre-built. So basicallly bombard me with links of computers that you think are good and i'll look them up to see prices and such.

Pre-built is never a good thing with a desktop. If you own a #2 phillips screwdriver and have relatively steady hands, you can build a computer these days. Things aren't like they were when I was a kid, with jumpers, multiplier settings and whatnot.

Why buy prebuilt ?! Are you just throwing cash out the window for no reason?

Seriously, Prebuilt rigs are pieces of shit, and cost a fortune.

As far as pre-builts go, this looks to be a very cost effective solution to a gaming PC.

@OP Everyone is probably going to ***** at you to build your own, but if you don't have the knowhow or the desire to learn how, don't let the die-hards sway your opinion to buy a pre-built.

Everything is great, except for the Processor.

i3 core Intel processors are abysmal. Go for i5 or i7.

Well when you get it, send me a PM and I'll tell you what programs you need and what to get rid of so your rig runs its best.

But you might want to go ahead and get a monitor from Newegg, they have a 1920X1080 Acer LCD screen for $130, its a bargain.

In all fairness, if he doesn't want to, I don't think we need to keep yelling "Build one! Pre-built is horrible!" The pre-built, minus the CPU, I suppose, is fine.

In my personal opinion, if you can't manage to build your own PC and install a basic OS you aren't going to have an optimal gaming experience with a PC. The fact is, PC's require regular maintenance on both the hardware and software side. If you are unwilling to put in the 2 hour initial investment of building your machine, then you're probably not going to keep your drivers updated, your heatsinks/fans cleaned or run regular virus/malware scans....unless you're willing to purchase a Geek Squad service contract.

I think assembling a computer is different than clicking a few links to install some drivers or start a scan. Then again, this is a very rough guess and whatnot.
