They have 3 of their laptops on sale right now. What bothers me about them is that they post their lowest price with the highest stats, which is tantamount to misleading advertising. That and you are paying an Alienware price for what is now the same thing as a Dell laptop. I am tempted though, with the sale going on! lol.

I bought my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Xi 3650 for about 700 euros.

# Intel® Centrino® 2 Processor Technology with Intel® Core?2 Duo processor
# 18.4-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio and BrilliantView technology
# HD+ (1680 x 945 pixels) or Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels)
# NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M GT (with 512 MB VRAM) and HybridPower? technology
# NVIDIA® PureVideo® technology
# 7.1 high-definition audio via S/PDIF
# 250, 320 or 500 GB hard disc capacity;
optionally dual HDD with Raid 0/1 function and 500, 640 or 1000 GB capacity
# Up to 4 GB memory*

Runs all the games I have on at least medium graphics. It can get a bit laggy when you turn on grass and shadows together, but I never found grass to be compelling. Games include Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead, WoW and WAR.

So far the only problem I had with it was due to the graphics card's driver, occassionally turning the screen black. It was easily fixed though, just downloaded the update.

It's quite large, but weighs suprisingly little. "It's fun and easy to use!"

if your looking for one avoid laptops with Intel processors and chipsets. they have this problem of having their graphic drivers stopping and resulting in your game crashing. also gaming laptops are going to cost you around $800-$1500 for a good one.
Bollocks in a hat. My cousin has some gaming laptop with an intel chip and it just about beats anything for quality. I was playing WOW for about 4 hours on it and there were never any problems.

That thing is gorgeous! They didn't post a price. Oh, I was really surprised to see it was made in Germany! With a name like Fujitsu I would have thought Japan!

That's the second post that said Toshiba, I was looking at one when I got this HP, and could just kick myself!

I'm honestly about to say this. I know it's near blasphemy, but I will anyway...

My friend dual-boots Vista on a MacBook Pro, and it can run Far Cry 2 at max settings with a pretty beautiful framerate. Of course, one of those pieces of Mac will cost you $4k, but hey? What's a few thousand dollars for performance, am I right?
Far Cry doesn't eat the graphics like Oblivion or Fallout 3 do, though. I wonder what it would do with a power sucking game?

I'm typing this on my old Compaq ?2003?/?2001? right now. It plays StarCraft, Halo on low graphics, Project 64 with MAJOR glitches, and not much else. Oh well, It's still portable and has almost 20 hours worth of battery.

my few year old macbook pro plays oblivion no worries, and friend was using fallout 3 on it the other day with no problems so I guess it worked ok.
off the top of my head I think its 2.33ghz core 2 duo, Radeon x1600 mobility, I think 256mb but cant remember for sure, and 2gb ram, so shouldn't cost you a great deal now. You probly will have fallout on pretty low settings though, I dont know, only played it on my desktop.

Alienware M-15x With 2GB of RAM, an 8600GTS, and a 2.1 GHz Intel CPU. If you get the 1440x900 screen it will work, but why a laptop? A desktop is much better for gaming. If you were playing LAN party games, I could understand, but these are single player RPG's. So why?
Never buy Alienware, OP. Never.

I wish Eggo was still here, because he'd be on this thread quicker than you can blink. Essentially, there is no point in purchasing a laptop for gaming. They're overpriced, underpowered and not even that portable. Also, you can't upgrade them yourself, and you can't fix any hardware issues when they do go wrong. Stick with the 360 if you're not willing to go for a desktop. Gaming laptops are a contradiction in terms.
Well now I will just cry! I got a large business laptop/files briefcase that just fits the 360 and the 15" flat panel TV screen. It has an outside pocket for the games and the headset, and wheels so I don't have to carry it everywhere. I mean it works, but it would be so much easier and less bulky to get a Laptop, plus I could handle business on it, myspace, twitter, The Escapist, etc.

Also, when you go into work rolling a 360 and TV, it looks suspicious, where as with a laptop you can retain your professionalism. (lol).

I have a Dell XPS M1530.

Its a good laptop although not a chart topper, plays most games that I like but it does tend to heat up a lot. That and the not so awesome battery life are the weak points.

But I play games for atmost an hour so m happy with it. But yeah I haven't had any trouble....yet.
I've got one of these. I don't mind it. I'm with you on it heating up, but it's an aluminum-cased laptop, so you get a lot of heat transfer.

Currently I'm running:
500 GB HDD
Intel Core Duo T8300 @ 2.40GHz
4GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia 8600M GT (Dedicated)
Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Full 1680x1050 resolution.

If you plug it into a power point, it'll go great guns. Unfortunately, they don't make this laptop anymore. The one they used to replace it is the <a href=http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-studio-xps-16?c=au&l=en&s=dhs&cs=audhs1>Studio XPS 16 laptops. And that base model is a little under powered for it's price, but you can get some better specs for $200 more, or if you know a good computer guy, just buy some cheap laptop RAM and a laptop HDD and get them to replace the parts for you :)

Alienware is over priced and poorly supported there is tons better to choose from. Most laptops have user replaceable/upgradeable parts, including GPUs and CPUs, Toshiba has started doing this and I know many others have. Toshiba has a model with dual 9800 GTX in SLi for a little over $2000. Look at Sager they have a new model with a GTX 280m in it and starts at $1800, with more money you can get quad core, and SLi (not yet for the GTX 280m though.

http://www.sagernotebook.com/product_customed.php?pid=129131

I run a Toshiba X200 now (X205 in the US and Europe) I have not had much difficulties with it (blew a fan once but I game constantly, Toshiba fixed it in 3 days). For my next laptop I am going Sager, they make high end gaming laptops for fairly reasonable prices (was going to go Toshiba, but the models released in Canada were not good, besides the X300 is kind of ugly). On my current system I play Fallout 3 and Oblivion at max settings 1440 x 900 (max resolution on this model). As an example I play Crysis Warhead at 1280 X 800 at mixed gamer and enthusiast levels. If you really must be mobile and game as well, it will cost more, but with a little research you can find a model that suits your needs.

To the OP it may be better to go here to ask your question, there are many knowledgeable laptop gamers there that can help with what you need.
