I've done that on my desktop, it is OK for Oblivion but not good enough for Fallout 3. The HP laptop I have doesn't come up to standards for either, and HP won't upgrade the graphics card on it.Haxordude said:Just did an srtest of Fallout 3 on my Sager NP8660 and I have better than recommended requirements.
- I hope they do!Chickenlittle said:I'm not entirely sure these mythical machines exist.
I would like to get at least medium settings on Oblivion and Fallout 3 with a good framerate.JoshasorousRex said:RAWR SEND THEM TO THE GAS... uh... RECYCLING PLANTS!!TsunamiWombat said:Do not exist according to the PC Nazi's.thread title
My mom's laptop could run TF2 on like low-medium settings but I forget what kind it is
Lots of battery, but none of those games are as power sucking as Oblivion and Fallout 3.PoisonUnagi said:I'm typing this on my old Compaq ?2003?/?2001? right now. It plays StarCraft, Halo on low graphics, Project 64 with MAJOR glitches, and not much else. Oh well, It's still portable and has almost 20 hours worth of battery.
Talendra said:my few year old macbook pro plays oblivion no worries, and friend was using fallout 3 on it the other day with no problems so I guess it worked ok.
off the top of my head I think its 2.33ghz core 2 duo, Radeon x1600 mobility, I think 256mb but cant remember for sure, and 2gb ram, so shouldn't cost you a great deal now. You probly will have fallout on pretty low settings though, I dont know, only played it on my desktop.
Radelaide said:I've got one of these. I don't mind it. I'm with you on it heating up, but it's an aluminum-cased laptop, so you get a lot of heat transfer.clicklick said:I have a Dell XPS M1530.
Its a good laptop although not a chart topper, plays most games that I like but it does tend to heat up a lot. That and the not so awesome battery life are the weak points.
But I play games for atmost an hour so m happy with it. But yeah I haven't had any trouble....yet.
Currently I'm running:
500 GB HDD
Intel Core Duo T8300 @ 2.40GHz
4GB DDR2 RAM
nVidia 8600M GT (Dedicated)
Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Full 1680x1050 resolution.
That's one whopping laptop!!!
If you plug it into a power point, it'll go great guns. Unfortunately, they don't make this laptop anymore. The one they used to replace it is the <a href=http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-studio-xps-16?c=au&l=en&s=dhs&cs=audhs1>Studio XPS 16 laptops. And that base model is a little under powered for it's price, but you can get some better specs for $200 more, or if you know a good computer guy, just buy some cheap laptop RAM and a laptop HDD and get them to replace the parts for you
I saw something about incompatability issues with the 64 bit and downloading of DLC for Oblivion, but I bought the PC disks so don't have to worry about that. I originally had incompatability issues with my Desktop's Windows Vista (Premium Home 32 bit) and Bethesda games, but that has been resolved.Radelaide said:It goes alright. Mine were more setting it up. I've yet to play games on x64 cause I've gotta get the backups XDmALX said:I saw something about incompatability issues with the 64 bit and downloading of DLC for Oblivion, but I bought the PC disks so don't have to worry about that. The only games I've had trouble with on this were the Crysis ones. SUPRISE SUPRISE! I had to turn that game down to the low/med settings to run it, and it still kicked ass....
I'd be interested in hearing about it when you do, if you don't mind.Radelaide said:Mine were more setting it up. When I had x32, it ran games perfectly. It chugged a little on more demanding games, but over-all it did what it was meant to domALX said:I'd be interested in hearing about it when you do, if you don't mind.Radelaide said:Mine were more setting it up.
