I totally agree about the Phoenix Wright soundtracks. The made the games so much more engaging. I'd play through entire games to get to certain tracks.

Like say, this one.


The bass, man.

Shoji Meguro has disappointed me once, though. The Strange Journey soundtrack was a mess. Not that he doesn't rock though.

Also this one, the best boss song I have ever heard, period the end.


The buildup to the payoff at about 3:00 just makes it sing, man.

Anything from the Ace Combat series is usually good.


This rocked also...


And this whole soundtrack is done by Yoko Kanno, so is above reproach and awesome beyond all words.

I love video game soundtracks so it's really hard to just pick my favorite, so have a few.

I recently learned to absolutely love the soundtrack for Bastion. All of it was great, however my favourite was the end theme. It absolutely sent chills down my spine the first time I heard it. It combined the theme of two earlier songs from the game.

Long intro? Yeah! You wouldn't sing over the narrator either, would you?

Seriously, though, listen to it closely. There is so much subtlety to the timing! Its one of my all time favorite places, songs, everythings in gaming, and really pushed the machine to be its very best.

I love chiptune, though a lot of my favorite people haven't actually written for games...
