Still great suggestions coming! wicked and another one i thought of, the Burnout series. Yes, this is going to be a slight debate i reckon, but minus the DJ, it tends to have several good signed bands on. But that is a personal preference of mine, may not be yours.

Mass Effect has a kick-ass soundtrack. Jack Wall is a genius(And from what little I've heard Mass Effect 2's soundtrack is...heart-grabbingly stunning.)

Cave Story has some fantastic music. The Far Cry 2 soundtrack is great as well mainly due to authenticity (Baaba Maal), but I don't listen to the actual game soundtracks very often. For most adventure/RPG games I tend to listen to Pink Floyd, spacey stuff like that, but depending on the game I usually just listen to whatever's on my iPod at that time, though I have done a couple of gaming playlists-for Unreal I listen to Muse, At The Drive-In, Machine Head, Fucked Up, Unsane, System of a Down.
And of course some of the songs from FFX. The names escape me but the music for some of the more cinematic cutscenes I really loved.

are we talking game soundtracks for a standalone peice of music or in relation to the actual game its from?? becuase i would have to say for the latter that the DA:O soundtrack was pretty epic and pretty much captured the essence of the game

Why not both? I keep the ME soundtack in my iPod and after a year or two, it's STILL on constant spin. Love it!

Edit: Also...I totally agree about the DA:O music. The collector's edition comes with the soundtrack...adding to my iPod tonight...

What Game has the best soundtrack, period?

Personally, PoP:WW. I love Godsmack, and all of the music is composed, preformed and recorded by Godsmack. The Soundtrack album that i got is actually better than some of their other stuff!
But thats just me. i wanna know awsome tracks which i can add to my collection... So yeah, disscuss/PREACH MOTHERF**KERS!!!

I'm not sure what PoP:WW is, but I know I need to avoid it like the plague now.
