I have nothing against people new to gaming who like things like cod and fifa each to there own and all that but the problem comes when all they care about are graphics because there never played consoles like the N64, PS1 etc that couldn't really rely on graphics and had to focus on gameplay so now you get games that are considered really good if the only major thing they have improved over a predecessor is the graphics.

Transaltion: How dare you enjoy different things than me! Like what I like or face my nerd wrath!

Get over yourself.

EDIT: This guy said it better, and without my nastiness:

I've been gaming a lot since SNES but never played Shadow of the Colossus or ICO. They're on my "to do" list, though, now that they are on the PS3. But I have too many other games to play right now, assuming I have the time to play anything. BF3 is my current love affair, although I'm itching to finish off Dark Souls.

Anyway as to the OP: So what? Gaming is becoming more and more popular. Some people only play sports games, some play shooters, and some people like to go off in epic fantasy adventures. Some people like to try everything. Let's try not to be judgmental, ok?

COD and the like are kinda marketed at people who don't play other games. Not to say that a more diversified gamer won't play them but these are angled more at the sort of people who wouldn't normally play a video game for their story. I play COD and its entertaining for awhile but I always play the story mode first or at least make a start on it because I can't understand why someone would buy a video game and just mess around with its lesser features like mulitplayer but you'd be surprised how many cod players don't even touch the campaign.

Those are not gamers. Those are "normal" people who happen to play games. Ignore them, they are not worthy of our time.

I think you(OP) need to learn the difference between a Gamer and someone who casually plays games or someone who plays 3 games. You're friends or people you know are not Gamers(in a universal sense).

I'm sorry but because you don't like a game and you like games like SoTC doesn't mean they have no respect for really good games. It means you have an opinion, nothing else, they also have the opinion that COD is a really good game, nothing else.

I work retail, and even going to school and meeting people can teach you just how dumb the average person is. Sadly, gone are the days when games only appealed to the techy crowd who could both build and play on their computer. With the massive popularity of gaming, most companies want to sell as many copies of anything they make. They feel games need to tell you anything because the huddled masses are a tad slow.

This, although I agree also that most people seem to have pathetic standards.

"Hey guys, CoD's story isn't completely fucking incoherent this time, what good writing it has!"

And anyone who says, "its just meant to be fun, learn to leave your brain at the door," should be shot. Things can be well-written, well-acted, well-directed (if we're talking about films also) and still be fun.

Thor is a fun, fairly easy-going film, but its still had work put into all aspects of it. There's no excuse to be lazy, unless you have the exceptional skill of making something intentionally bad so that its good; in which case, you're not being lazy anyway.

I didn't say they were. They said they were gamers.
