I would respond to your thread, however you have already written my answer...although I'll add post-pubescent children still acting like pre-pubescent children talking incessantly into the microphone as well.

Also the fact that I lose the first 10 seconds of every COD match online to having to mute everyone :p

Isn't that fan boyish "half life's fun and halo doesn't compare.?"
Uhh... no? Half-Life was an all around better put together game and had a much better story, no matter how you look at it. Saying a game is better isn't fanboyish. Saying a game is better because everyone else does and for no real reason is fanboyish.
And that's the exact same thing a Halo fan boy might say "Halo is better it had a better story ect ect.." fair enough in your opinion its a better game but cant the other person have their opinion of which game is better.

And it seems (on this forum at least) the majority of people hate halo and love half life.
The point he was making was that not having a good reason for saying a game is better is fanboyish.

I hate it when the brightness adjuster doesn't go high enough for me to actually see well.

Well, it is a pet peeve of mine!

I also have to add here:

Low jumps. I recently played the demo for the craptacular game Legendary and couldn't stop being annoyed at the low jumps. Listen developers: If your character can only jump 3 inches up, and you can never even jump over a curb on the side of the road and literally never be on top of anything or dodge any attacks then DON'T ADD A JUMP BUTTON! AHHHH I can't stop pressing it, even though it doesn't do anything AHHHHH

I was just pointing out he had done what he was pointing out.

(that sounds retarded but I cant think of a better way of saying it.)

ditto to hooting children, same goes to the "elitist" players who insist that getting killed with the M4 carbine in Soldier of Fortune shouldn't count, as its a n00b gun.

you console players probably know them as melee, FINAL DESTINATION type people.

cut scenes that can't be skipped, I want to chainsaw someone to death now please.

Cut scenes that have the character perform moves that can't be done IN GAME, devil may cry 3 is the worst example i can think of, anyone played that?.... the intro has dante using a pool table to devistating effect.

I know I've set it before, but I hate "Real Is Brown."

In the first place, there are actually colors besides brown and gray in the real world. And in the second place, why on Earth are people trying to make games "realistic" at all?

That's an interesting gripe and a tough call--on one hand, it's interesting to see some variety in the cut scenes, but on the other hand it's frustrating when all the coolness happens when you're not in control.

I don't think there should be *action* in cut scenes. Devote your animation energies to facial expressions, body language, interacting with objects, but let the player do the killin', jumpin', etc.

Yes, but when prompted for an explanation, he provided one. That's not very fanboyish, if we're using the same definition of the term.

Seconded.

Also, AI that is omnipotent, knows where you are at all times.
Also, when you change the difficulty to Hard, and they do more damage, and you do less. No AI change.
Cannot agree with you more.
Especially the omnipotent AI point, I find Call of Duty 4 to be a huge offender of this. Sit still for a few seconds and a plethora of grenades will land at your feet, regardless of where you are hiding or how many enemies should even know where you even are. It seems they have a hive mind, if one spots you then everyone else instantly knows where you are.

People who are unaware their Xbox 360 headset and mic are on....this usually leads to everyone having to listen to heavy breathing or otherwise strange background sounds.
This!

A few days ago on TF2 theres was kid playing who just wouldn't stop breathing into the mic. I've done this before, and usually someone will say "Dude, we can hear you breathing" and then I'll say "Oh, sorry" and move the mic away from my face.

This kid just didn't get it. It was 45 minite match of nothing but continous breathing.

Me: Hey, Slasher457, can you move your mic away from your face, we can hear you breathing
*breathing*
Me: Slasher, we can still hear it
*louder breathing*
Me: Dude, for gods sake, would you move your mic away from your face
*breathing*
Me: For fucks sake, Slasher that is possibley the most annoying noise I have ever heard
*Breathing, Cough, Breathing*
Me: Slasher, please! I really can't concentrate with you breathing
Asma kid: Wh-What?
Me: Could you please move your mic away from your face, your breathing is really annoying
Asma kid: Oh, right yer
*rough noises*
Me: Cool, cheers.
*breathing*
Me: WHAT THE HELL!!

Now imagine about 40 or so minites of this. Worst thing was, when I turned off my mic, it was so loud I could hear it coming out of the screen, like over the explosions of TF fucking 2

Yes but his original post itself was, and according to him it wasn't. Had he not said that and just put his explanation I would have been fine, but he refused to accept he had done the same thing he had just said he dislikes.

Not to be misconstrued as some kind of sexual innuendo.

Well, not quite, actually.

I had the same exact situation in Left 4 Dead. I tried to boot the kid but apparently everyone else wanted him there.

Angst main characters. Pathetic.
And gamers thinking Half Life 2 is completely flawless.

Crossbows.

Okay, Fable 2 kinda brought this up for me. Adventurers using longbows: Fine. Solo adventurers using crossbows: YEAH BLOODY RIGHT.

I swear, I can handle oversized swords just fine. I can suspend disbelief on those. (Barring Cloud's. I mean, come on.) I can NOT stand seeing crossbows in games. Sure, they're easier to shoot and puncture more! They're also an absolute pain and a half to reload. You have to be quite strong to do it. It takes a while. At the best, you'll get off one shot, drop it, and fight. You will NEVER be able to do more than that in solo combat.
