It would be great if Weisman were part of a proper continuation/sequel. Unfortunately, Disney's execs remember IPs, not their creators. Disney has explored a continuation of this before, and Weisman has confirmed that Disney didn't approach him about it (this is from a panel at Magic City Comic Con). Also, the conditions that made the original Gargoyles no longer exists. The Japanese studios that handled the animation previously are no longer the cost-effective alternative they once were since they have been undercut by studios in other East Asian countries. That's part of what happened with Season 3, "The Goliath Chronicles". The show was no longer animated by their Japanese studio, leading to communication and production issues.
I'd love for this to be done right, but I'd also be happy if Disney did something new that's great. I've been unimpressed by recent Marvel animated work, but I can't adequately articulate what specifically would improve the series other than "make it more like Justice League Unlimited". Still, a comparably awesome Marvel Animated Universe would be cool (I saw the Punisher/Black Widow movie which was terrible imitation of Kawajiri's style).
