This, and maybe also a movie because Disney?

Yes. Just, all of my yes. Also, is that Keith David I hear?

yes yes it is and they should just remake the cartoon I mean they have the rare coincidence to have all the original VAs still alive and most would be quite willing to lend their voices to these old characters.

Oh yeah, if there's a series that's due for a revival it's this one. It really went before its time.

New Gargoyles? Yes. Please. Take all of my money!

I'd also like to see a movie, preferably with the original cast, but that's just a pipe dream... (crosses fingers)

You know what really amuses me? Linkara has pointed out that Marvel has a habit of making even the most obscure series it has published a part of the official Marvel Universe. This means that even the Transformers and ROM Space Knight occupy the same universe as Spiderman, Captain America, and the X-Men.

So, just imagine that. The Gargoyles as a part of the Marvel Universe. Perhaps they would meet the Fantastic Four, Spiderman, or Luke Cage. Wouldn't that be cool?

Oh so many fond memories of this series like most other kids growing up in the nineties. Looking back at it, one of the most interesting things is how well they handled the dark and violent material. The nineties had a slew of overtly violent cartoons that I can't imagine ever being shown today as a children's series, but I'd be damned if I can remember any characters name or a single line of dialogue from Mutant League or Dark Waters. Though certainly not as gory as those examples, Gargoyles wove the darker material in the story in such a way that made you feel the impact it had on the characters, it wasn't just for shock value.

A far as a new comic, a side of me thinks maybe it's better just to leave it as it is. A fondly remembered series that still holds up today, and the possibility that continuing the story may not be as good as we were expecting. Then my louder 10 year old self kicks me in the shins and yells, "Shut up! A Gargoyles comic would be fucking amazing!" And I can't really argue with that logic, let's do this.

>Showcase Gargoyles "reruns" on Disney XD
>Re-release the "complete" series on Blu-Ray
>Tease about a "potential" reboot/movie online
>?????
>Profit

Other than that, we all need more Gargoyles in our life... in the same vain as Ducktales... (or, dare I say, more so than Ducktales...)

Here's something interesting to consider: Greg Weisman was also co-creator of Young Justice, another great series that was canceled before its time.

I have said it before Disney does not care about its earlier cartoon?s. There has been talk about bringing back Ducktails recently but they have yet to finish releasing the rest of the older Ducktails episodes on DVD. Most of their cartoons from that area are trapped without DVD release.

As far as bring Gargoyles back as a comic, sure I am down for that but not under the Marvel titles or in the Marvel universe. I feel Gargoyles and stories are to mature for the Marvel universe and they will mess then up some way. Maybe put them under the MAX comics title or just bring back the cartoon and pretend the 3rd season did not happen.

This, a thousand time this!

If ?Invader Zim got revive into comicbook form, why not this?

Also, holy cow when did she ever get hurt enough to draw blood in that image but yet again I can barely remember anything that happened in the series other than the main synopis.

It would be great if Weisman were part of a proper continuation/sequel. Unfortunately, Disney's execs remember IPs, not their creators. Disney has explored a continuation of this before, and Weisman has confirmed that Disney didn't approach him about it (this is from a panel at Magic City Comic Con). Also, the conditions that made the original Gargoyles no longer exists. The Japanese studios that handled the animation previously are no longer the cost-effective alternative they once were since they have been undercut by studios in other East Asian countries. That's part of what happened with Season 3, "The Goliath Chronicles". The show was no longer animated by their Japanese studio, leading to communication and production issues.

I'd love for this to be done right, but I'd also be happy if Disney did something new that's great. I've been unimpressed by recent Marvel animated work, but I can't adequately articulate what specifically would improve the series other than "make it more like Justice League Unlimited". Still, a comparably awesome Marvel Animated Universe would be cool (I saw the Punisher/Black Widow movie which was terrible imitation of Kawajiri's style).

And Spectacular Spider-Man. The man keeps making phenomenal series that are popular with older fans, but not popular enough with kids to stay on the air.

This was one of my favorite series as a kid and I still enjoy it even now. I'd kill for some new episodes. Although the risk of it failing hard is always there. It isn't like I couldn't just ignore it and enjoy the old ones. That is what I did with season 3, after all.

"At best, it sells a few DVDs here-and-there to overly nostalgic men in their late-20s."

I get that that probably describes a majority, but I wanted to go ahead and ask: am I the only woman here who loved the hell out of this show? I mean, I've enjoyed a lot of... iunno... "male" media... but Gargoyles seems pretty universally appealing. I have the DVDs and comics, and fully agree that a Marvel collaboration would be SOOOOO GOOOD.

Also, on a very related note: my Saint's Row IV character tried sooo extra-hard to romance Vice President Keith David....

Apologies for the unintentional exclusion! :/

With that line I was mostly just trying to poke a bit of fun at myself, aka: the ultimate overly-nostalgic man in his late-20s.

Question: when does something shift from needed revival to childhood defiling cash grab?
