Are you kidding me? First of all both party's are wrong. The writer and the person "bashing homosexicals." The fact they are both offended over something so trivial is just plain silly! And you're not going to win respect by acting childish with childish responses. Man people are silly these days

Didn't Mass Effect 2 remove gay relationships? I know that ME1 had 'em.

Complain about that.

Anyway, I haven't gotten rivalry points for spurning the advances of either of them.
ME1 had a lesbian relationship while ME2 did not. I do not recall any romantic options between men in either game.

As for this supposed gay gamer I think it is just another person looking to complain about DA2 any way he can.

Well he could always switch over to Fallout NV. It seems like every other character in that game was gay (not complaining, it just seemed alittle odd for the NCR ranger to tell me she likes them "tall, blonde, and female")

Maybe we're all just arguing the wrong things..

New point: David Gaider should be fired because he's a horrrrible writer. Period.

I admit, I was kind of laughing at the Anders relationship options.

They are so terribly stereotyped that it's actually amusing. The kiss scene made me burst out laughing to the point where it started to hurt my sides. I just imagined one of them going "Omnomnom" somewhere along the kiss, because it damn well sounded like it.

They did the gay romance options absolutely, horribly wrong, but they could have made it much much worse.

At least Anders didn't start dressing in chaps... *Shudders* Ugh.

While on the last forum I certainly made it clear that there was work to be done in the romances in BioWare games, I simply cannot agree with this motion to fire David Gaider. At least the man cares, which is important if we are ever going to elevate the writing in video games.

I'm glad that a homosexual gamer has the same problem with the occasional "you either be gay or a jerk" moment in Dragon Age 2...makes me feel less like a homophobe for my criticism of these dialogues.

But, a petition to get the guy fired? Why not a petition to patch the game with other options during these moments? A lot more practical and nobody has to be jobless.

If this guy is legit and not a troll, then all I've got to say is you've got to pick your battles. I haven't played the game, but complaining about this sort of thing simply comes across as petty and immature. It may not be perfectly executed, at least the game recognizes that homosexuals exist, which is certainly more than most games do.

Well I feel the big thing to point out here is that the romances play out literally EXACTLY the same as a female character.

I played a female Hawke in DA2 and Anders comes on just as strongly. I think he's just needy.

Oh, yeah. An internet petition. Those totally work.

/sarcasm

Yeah, I don't think BioWare will pay this any mind. They are the ones in charge of personel, and they won't fire anyone due to a list of people who want him gone.

Anders is clearly bisexual (and hints at it in DA:O:A, with talk of how things were... indiscriminate... in the tower). And he's aggressive with female characters too. He admits (if you romance him) that he's been obsessing over the player since they met. Hence his aggression. He has an obsessive personality.

Fenris I can't speak to as he hated me, but I never felt pressure from any of the characters (outside of Anders) if I didn't pick the dialog option with the big, massive heart.

As for earning Rivalry points.... um.... duh? In DA:O, refusing advances lost you approval. Similar (albeit varied) system was in play in DA2.

People seriously just need to calm the hell down with the DA2 romances.

I would be signing the second Petition, but for one thing, the self centred twisting round of the usual abbreviation, it is LGBT.
I would also complain if the abbreviation was GLBT and people switched it round too. Have seen some horrible word mix ups from lesbians (Womyn for one), just as I have Gays, and either way it is horrible.

This is total bullshit on toast. First of all, Anders reacts to that situation the exact same way whether your PC is male or female, so Anders character is not a terrible homosexual stereotype. Secondly, gaining rivalry after turning him down is TOTALLY reasonable; his feelings were hurt, cuz you don't like him.

Thirdly, and most importantly, DAVID GAIDER DID NOT WRITE ANDERS IN DA2!!!! JENNIFER HEPLER DID.

Coming up next: middle aged man sues the estate of Vladimir Nabokov for stereotyping men his age as pedophiles.

Because a single text must obviously be interpreted as a microcosm of the entire world, right? I'll say one thing for Dragon Age II along those lines then: it appropriately represents the fact that the majority of the population are self-entitled, ignorant morons who expect people to cater to their every whim.

Fenris never pulled that. Anders certainly did, though. Anders was pretty aggressive.
Well he did end up going all IRA if you know what I mean :/

You know, I've never played DA except for a quick run of the elf on Origins on my friends PC, so I may not be the best person to say anything about the writing (which I wasn't getting a huge kick out of but...)
Anyway, As a gay male gamer who /deeply/ enjoys flirting with pretty much anything that moves and reading the DA Wiki about Anders, I can definitely say that the only thing I'm offended about is that I don't have, apparently, SUPER MAGICAL POWERS to assist in my flirting, so I'm not really offended here...

I don't see the source of complaints. I don't get my own people some time *sigh*
