Disagree, I know for a fact that I wouldn't be able to have some of the friendships I have if I wasn't heterosexual.
I also know for a fact that there are people who openly harrass and physically assault people for their sexuality. It's still an issue dude.
However, I agree that sometimes it's frustrating having your entire day filled with minorities demanding acceptance when you already treat everyone the same regardless of who they are (not including acting like a dick).
There's still people that have a hard life due to their sexuality/religeon/race/gender/even how they were conceived(IVF vs Natural)/for being adopted etc. in first world countries.
You can't claim that sexuality isn't an issue.
OT: Sexuality doesn't offend me. I try not to offend others about such things. I can't wait for Australia to come out of the dark ages and allow gay marriage.
WTF!!
Harrassment, bullying and general violence HAPPENS EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR to someone... if it wasn't homosexuals it would be people with glasses, or a funny hairdo.. jesus christ.. if you're gonna be different in this world shit is going to happen.
Why can't they see this and quit looking for someone to blame, just because they want to be different in a world that stupidly seems to values conformism... NO-ONE has an easy time of it.
*sigh* (btw.. they're very attitude is what pisses some people off too)
I understand that bullying happens, and is going to continue happening for all of time. Especially in highschool.
What I'm saying is that people shouldn't be treated differently by anyone, or legislation, for their sexuality, or gender, or race, or the cicumstances of their birth/conception, etc. ad infinitum.
Choices, sure, tease the kid who dresses funny, tease the kid who likes dungeons and dragons, it's unfair but it's less unfair than teasing the kid in the wheelchair because he's got paget's disease in his feet, or the kid with a birthmark covering 2/3 of his face.
I'm just trying to point out that making fun of someone for something
they didn't choose is bullshit and that discrimination against homosexuals, while not as bad as it has been, is still and issue (for example, where I live - Australia - homosexual marriage is not legal) and has certainly been an issue over the last 20 years.
I also take issue with:
just because they want to be different in a world that stupidly seems to values conformism
Homosexuality isn't a choice. Sure, choosing to make out with someone of the same sex is a choice but it's a choice that people should be able to make.
I'm not sure what you're referring to at the end of your post by "attitude". If you mean a martyr-like victimised attitude, sure that can be annoying, but some people have genuine reasons to act in that way.
I find it advisable to simply assume the best possible scenario (from your point of view) and that anyone not causeing harm to another is justified in their actions, then go about living your life.
