So...the wait is finally coming to an end. In about 8 hours GCSE results for UK students will come out, and I for one am very worried. We've been working towards this for about 3 years, and it is a pretty big milestone.

Personally, I probably shouldn't be worried, because I've been fairly lucky with my education and I feel I performed well, but that doesn't stop me from bricking myself right now...

So Escapists - are any of you in a similar position, and if there are any others who took them last year, how did you find it?

I'm waiting for mine too, we're all going in at 10 tomorrow. Can't say I'm overly nervous, but then it's a bit late to be 2 months after-the-fact.

Im in the same boat as you my friend. My teachers had high hopes for me, im expected to get A stars across the boards, with A's in english and history. To be honest i would be happy with B's in them and A's in everything else. Im terrified i cant live up to everyones such high expectations. I know i aced my sciences but the rest of my subjects. gulp. Maths i think i did ok.

I took them last year, and while I could have done better, I was fairly pleased with the result. And while they may seem like the biggest thing in the world, there are a number of options for you other than just Sixth Form.

Don't worry about it. Relax. I'm sure you'll do fine.

But in any case, good luck for you tomorrow, and anyone else in the same position.

Again, I'm predicted pretty much all A*s, but Mandarin...WHY DID I PICK MANDARIN!?!

I'm told an A at Mandarin still looks better than an A* at French, but still...I like my perfect record...

GCSE? Never heard of them. Must be a British thing... Are those like the SAT and ACT?

I'm sh*****g my bricks as we speak. I want to think I have done well (or well enough anyway) but I don't want to get my hopes up. I just want B's in subjects. Sod getting A's lets just not be an idiot.

EDIT: Just got mine. I got an A in history which I'm very happy about as I would like to become a lawyer later in life. The rest were Bs and Cs which although could have been better I'm still happy with. I'd rather be distinctly average then distinctly stupid.

I took them last year.

Didn't fail anything but didn't get any As... 13 GCSEs and all of them Cs and Bs.

This year however I tanked in my AS levels...

Got kicked out of one course, failed 2 more, technically passed ICT as it's a 2 year course.

So now I have to go in wednesday and try and convince then to let me back in next year.

Take it from me do not doss around in 6th for or college.

I'm exactly the same my friend. I'm predicted A's in most things, but I'm probably getting a C in English, with a few B's and then the rest A's. I'm fairly confident I'll get A's in Maths, German and Electronics though. Possibly Drama.

They're taken at 16, but I don't know what the US equivalent would be. They're a lot more specialised than an SAT, with in depth studies in each subject, rather than just writing and maths.

For some reason our school isn't getting the letters until Thursday, but they get sent out by email anyway.

I'm expected to get A*s in Latin and Greek.

Thus far, I've got two A*s (English, Maths IGCSE) and an A (the top grade available for Additional Maths) from the exams I've taken early.

I reckon I'll have failed at least one exam...I just have to hope it isn't Latin or Greek.

See you all in around 12 hours, maybe longer.

I will laugh so hard if you get all C's now. :L But yeah, I'll see you at 10. Good Luck! Not that you need it.

Don't fret, GCSEs have very little impact on your life.

Very few colleges will require exceptional GCSEs for entry.

A-levels are a little different in that you can use them to go start a career or decide which Universities you can go to. But GCSEs matter very little as long as you're happy with your college.

I am supposed to go in for a few of mine tomorrow, but I really don't see the point when I'm only getting results for 3 of my GCSEs...

Also, good luck to everyone who is getting them tomorrow!

I'm pretty much the same - I took Latin last year, got an A*, so I was pretty happy with that. Greek I didn't find that bad, which was surprising considering how terrible I was at the subject until about a week before the exam...

Also for some reason the school "leaked" our English Literature IGCSE result a few days ago, and it said I had an A* but I don't know if I trust that or not :L

Anyway, best of luck to you!

And the same to you!
One thing I will guarantee: Someone in the media will say that the exams are too easy nowadays. (See also: Daily Mail)
