I've never played Homeworld, but if you were to ask me what I'd want out of an HD remake of anything my answer would be less HD and more remake.
You are asking gearbox to change game mechanics. Surely your intentionsis complete ruination and toxication of the homeworld title.
Beside, the game doesnt need a remake. It is perfectly playable as it is, runs on new systems without crashes (thought i heard cataclysm crash for some people, never crashed for me), mechanics arent really much "Better" in modern counterparts and its still very much balances with many different races.
"remaking" it is the worst gearbox can do.
I wasn't just talking about remakes made by Gearbox and as I mentioned I've never played Homeworld AND I never said anything about changing the gameplay mechanics. That being said if they absolutly had to remake something I'd rather see them do more than simply update the visuals like what was done with Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition.

Homeworld is pretty much still playable. the ONLY thing it needs is graphics as everything else is already there. And knowing Gearbox they certainly not going to improve it.
The thing with Baldurs gate is that people wanted the old DND rules and it delivered. personally i havent tried baldurs gate so i cant comment either way.

Yeah? And I bet that's what most people thought of Baldur's Gate and I found it damn near unplayable. I can't comment on Homeworld as I've never played it, but it probably isn't as flawless as you think it is. And give Gearbox a change eh? Everyone hated on Obsidian for a while and never wanted them to touch anther IP again until they wowed everyone with Fallout: New Vegas and now everyone wants them to make every WRPG.

I have played homeworld for the first time 13 years after its release without previuos experience to the series. the reason i even knew it existed was due to posts on Escapist. And yet it still felt better than most modern RTses. Im really not the fan that has been palying game for 10 years and get blinded by that here. Homeworld is perfectly servicable, all it needs is visual uplifting to appeal to modern audience.
I got a friend who played diable and baldurs gate all the time, though he agreed that much can be improved there so that wont work.
Its not flawless, but its still better than what most current games give you. It can easily be rereleased and be good as it is, whereas "remake" combined with "Gearbox" means it would definatelly stop being so.
No, Gearbox is out of chances. they have made and remade plenty of series, fucking up every single one of them. sorry, but if a dog bites you 10 times in a row then maybe you shouldnt be petting him 11th time.

What exactly do you mean by "plenty" because I only know of one major disaster that can be attributed to them.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
James Bond 007: Nightfire
Halo: Combat Evolved (port)
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero
Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30
Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood
Brothers in Arms: D-Day
Brothers in Arms DS
Brothers in Arms: Art of War
Brothers in Arms
Samba de Amigo
Brothers in Arms: Double Time
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes
Brothers in Arms 2: Global Front
Duke Nukem Forever
Aliens Infestation
Borderlands 2
Aliens: Colonial Marines

Not all major disasters, just failures and problems.
Though at least aliens and duke nukem can be counted as major diasters.

Ok I've not played any of those. However, aside from Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines, I was unaware any of those were considered failures or disasters. Sure Duke Nukem Forever didn't like up to expectations, but after 13 years how could it? Of course why Gearbox wanted to revive that at all is something of a question.

They werent diasters on the level of aliens or duke nukem, but they were considered bad/mediocre games that didnt really bring in any reasonable profit. Borderlands is the only franchise they really hit gold with, and even that one has itsp roblems (especially the second one).
Actualyl funnily enough gearbox was the developer that made half-life expansions, which was basically the first games they ever made. so its sad to see where they ended up.
See duke not only didnt got up to expectations, it was genuinely horrible and while a lot of that happened before gearbox, with how much time they had they would ahve been better off scrapping it whole and making from scratch and would be hard to have made it worse. Also they are making new aliens game. Its going to be better than the last one if only because it would be almost impossible to make a worse one.

Still I don't think any of that is cause enough condemn any project they might undertake just because they're the one's working on it.

Like i said, if the dog bit you 10 times in a row you dont go petting it 11th time.

Besides, its not liked Gearbox dont deserve it, they certainly do. they should actually be sued for the whole scam of aliens.

I could understand that argument if all those games you mentioned were as disastrous as DNF or Aliens: Colonial Marines, but you, yourself, said they weren't, they just weren't outstanding. I'd also feel obligated to point out that Gearbox weren't the only ones who worked on Aliens: Colonial Marines, they were just one of a half dozen developers that were involved in that train wreck all of which should share in the blame for that; Sega too. However I'm really beginning to wonder why I'm bothering to defend Gearbox when I don't think I've even played any of their games.
