GearBox is Awesome

To all people who have Broderlands on Steam...You now have access to the DUKE NUKEM DEMO..when it comes out.

I fully expected to have to buy the GOTY edition* to get it but i didn't because instead Gearbox gave it to me free...Which is good seeing as i have the game and all the DLC already lol.

What do you guys think of the way gearbox is handling the Duke Nukem situation..i think they are trying to get the brand name back out there and respected and that they are doing a good job so far.


*Wasn't gonna buy it i just thought that was gonna be the only way to get it.

What to do if you have borderlands on Steam:
Right Click your game and click on View CD Keys
Then Click on the Duke Nukem Code and then Click on Copy Key To Clipboard
From There got to here http://www.dukenukem.com/access/
Then Paste Your Code in the Access Code Box.
Your good to go after you create an account.

Things i do know:
Any copy of borderlands has the code even if you don't have all the DLCs (For now at any rate)
EDIT: If you purchased the Borderlands base game prior to Oct 12, 2010 you will receive a code in your account for the Duke Nukem ?First Access Club?.

Things i do not know:
When Demo comes out
If the demo will be available trough steam or not.

Also: I have pretty poor experiences with gearbox, their only decent game I can think of is borderlands, and even that wasnt really good, it just really hit a niche. (but that might just be my experience of the horrible, HORRIBLE ending talking).

I'm a bit scared about them handling DNF...but at least the game will be released before hell freezes over, and I really dont know who else should do the job.

Duke Nuken is set to release February 1st. I'm not trying to insult the thread itself. It's Duke Nukem threads in general. I've seen a few threads on other sites where people still think Duke Nukem's release is a sick joke, and the back and forth of "It really is coming out" and "This is just a lie" Is getting sick. If it doens't happen in the thread, great! But that isn't normally how a Duke Nukem thread goes

I think you misunderstand me my good sir. I do not dismiss Borderlands because it is mind-bogglingly juvenile. That makes me go "Really? Really now?", but it does not warrent dismissal. Rather the piss-poor gunplay, combined with the piss-poor RPG elements, combined with a piss-grindy singleplayer, combined with an even pissier and grindier multiplayer, combined with the mind-boggling juvenility is what warrants dismissal. Not even sure why I played it to the end - if I knew the ending I sure wouldn't have.

Anyway, do my 'good-game selections' appease you?

Regardless of how good/bad the game may be I have to admire Gearbox's marketing savvy in the good faith they are building with gamers. it's all pretty pointless stuff. A demo should never be exclusive IMO, and trying to honor 12 year old pre-orders (about ten people will probably qualify)

As for Borderlands, I was massively underwhelmed by it, while wanting it to be good.
