A negative stereotypical male (ie Duke) is an odd parody of the action hero.

A negative stereotypical female does what exactly? Stay at home doing the dishes? Or, like you say, getting men to do her work for her?
That wouldn't be a female Duke Nukem then.
Having a woman do exactly what Duke Nukem does it just a change of sprite. I'm pretty sure that's not what it meant, although if it is what they meant, it's hardly newsworthy.

Because you know, Duke, Marcus and Kratos is what every real man is supposed to look like. >__<
As Bayonetta is what every woman is meant to look like.
I guess, I missed the /sarcasm at the end, yes?

Guys guys guys... CLEARLY if there were to be a Daisy Nukem, she'd be a bisexual club slut/drama queen who exploits BOTH men and women and shouts out has she has "boobs of steel"... largely because of the breast enhancement surgery she's had.

And she does it all dressed up like a Catholic schoolgirl.

Well, to be more on topic than quite a few people here...
You really do not need to dig deeply to see duke as a parody of a "true" man. Though the best way for a female duke to appear is to get the advice from..well women. Never get advice from men because they tend to think more negatively on the subject than women..as one can see from many of these posts...(yeah I went there.)

Point is, most women like to have complete control, look sexy, have men at their beck and call.

I find it really sad that pitchford feels obliged to defend his character. Analysing something like Duke Nukem is so unbelievably pointless. It's hard to believe anyone can actually misinterpret him as a symbol of mysogeny, when he's so incredibly over the top about everything.

It's a funny thing though as that would work with or without sarcasm.

If Bayonetta is a lust object, then Duke is the role-reversal.

If she isn't, then she's not objectified. Which also works.

*wipe tears from face* Gearbox... you are so awesome.

Here's hoping we do get a Daisy Nukeum game XD

OH! Heres another idea! Super Babe Brawl: A crossover game where we get to play as Heather from silent Hill 3, Bayonetta, Cammy, Chun-lee, Samus, Lara Croft, Princess Peach (shut up, she kicks ass) and every other kick ass girl of gaming where they have to fight hords of undead pirate ninja robots from outerspace who have taken our men!

This is a quote of a quote, but it sums up my feelings purty well.

To understand the difference between sexualized and idealized, try and think of the last time you saw a male video game character who was wearing a thong, who had a giant package with all its details clearly visible through his painted-on leggings, whose character was heavily centered on being the sexual interest of other characters in the game.

[?]

To consider an analogy outside of gaming, imagine a bar that required all male servers to work out and be built, go to tanning beds, but to otherwise dress however they like and act as normal servers would, but required its female servers to get breast implants, be unhealthily skinny, wear heels, wear lingerie (or chain mail bikinis), and flirt with all the customers. Both are being held to unrealistic body standards, and we can agree that they shouldn't be held to those standards. But they are not the same standard -- importantly, the male servers aren't reduced to their sexuality, they are allowed to have full, diverse personalities, whereas female severs are limited in their self expression to those few tropes that male patrons would find desirable.

This is from an article at IGN.
