There was a huge host advantage, multi could be very glitchy at times, and the shotgun was hideously overpowered. Ok, everyone had a shotgun so it wasn't really unfair in that sense, but it was still silly.TheSapphireKnight said:
I also really didn't like having to play as the Locust. The whole campaign/Horde consists of cutting them down like wheat, even on the hardest levels, and not giving them any sort of character (Skaarn/RAAM excluded) and then having a 50/50 chance of playing them was annoying. I would have prefered the whole multi to be COG on COG, with different colours identifing teams.
Well since I still think Gears of War is about as stereotypical as FPS's get, I'll give it a miss. I played the first two and they bored me to death. The story is basically "There are some aliens. Kill them" and the gameplay is just feh. Not worth a buy.

I didnt go crazy, but its Gears and that means its good. I dont think the 12 month wait will effect me too much. Although it would if it was a really well designed gears RTS. I ran across a thread on a forum awhile ago that was asking what popular fps should have a rts port. Gears was one option and the more i think about i the more i like the idea.

It's a definite buy for me. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge fan of the games. It's actually the first game I ever played over Xbox Live. Me and my brothers love the Co-op and we enjoyed the Horde a lot.
Point is, the games have always been great to me and I hope the third meets, if not surpass, that greatness of the previous games.

God no, I bought both Gears and tried to enjoy them. It's just so.... awful. Obnoxious characters, horrid story, dismal setting. After playing through 1 & 2 in an attempt to understand their massive popularity, I can safely say that I won't give a toss about the third.
Well, it's a third person shooter in a sea of third person shooters, but then again it's still the best cover based TPS I've played.
I mean the only two TPS that have come close were Mass Effect 2 and Uncharted 2, but Gears still puts those two on its knee and spanks them silly.
As for the new trailer, it sucks.
The teaser trailer for the first Gears featuring MadWorld was really cool, and this one is just trying to copy it.

I'm sorry but these were the thoughts that came to my mind while watching:
1) Dom looks bad ass with a beard
2) Marcus looks incredibly gay with the sleeveless armour
3) Double barrel shotgun = awesome!
4) There's a chick?
5) There's a CHICK?!
6) But... Wait... A chick? I mean, how would she lift all the armour and weapons and such! She's a twig to the rest of them!
7)... Holy crap was that Mike Tyson? No wait, Cole.
What I expect: Another decent game to play through a few times. While I haven't been a massive fan of Gears of War, I will admit that the gameplay has been fun, even though the story is silly as all hell.

It does look quiet good. I hope the 4 player Co-op means all on one console. My biggest pet peeve about games is when they say it's Co-operative and it only applies to playing with someone over xbox live. Although I do have xbox live I would rather play with someone in the same room as me.
