I'm split on the decision myself.
On the one hand, it's a lot of fun. Nothing like over-the-top gore and bigass guns. And I love games that support local co-op, since me and my friends like to play games with each other WITHOUT BEING ON THE GODDAMNED INTERNET!!! Sorry... It annoys me...
On the other hand, I hate, hate, hate, hate, HATE Marcus Fenix with a passion. It doesn't make sense that they would choose him to be the main character when Dom has a much more personal struggle with the games.
Okay, so yeah, Marcus's dad was killed by the locust five years before Gears 1. Marcus looks like hes at LEAST in his late 40's early 50's himself, which means his dad was at least 60-70 years old. And all we're told is, "Dude, Marcus's dad died". In the first one, I don't think they even mentioned it unless you read the manual.
No offense, but that doesn't begin to compare with the emotional struggles that Dom has to go through with finding his wife was basically a tortured husk.
