Gears of War Movie: A Harder "Lord of the Rings"

1. Why are they making a movie based on a game that was already a ripoff of a movie?

Well, I loved Underworld! Huzzah.

You and me both. And I normally hate vampire movies. But they pulled it off well, ad I really liked the mythos they created.

I've always thought LoTR could have been vastly improved with the addition of firearms and/or chainsaws. Seeing the shire blown apart by Boomers would also have brought me happiness.

Vin Diesel should've played Saruman. That puny ball of fire he shoots from the top of Orthanc is nothing compared to the truckload of Vitamin G he would have thrown at those filthy good guys.

Some people should just take it for what it is. Make the crap movie and milk the franchise, but don't make believe your doing anything otherwise.

Wow. I am flabbergasted that anyone is dumb enough to think that taking the storyline of GoW is a good idea for a movie...

GoW was a good game because of the awesome fun gameplay, in spite of the shoddy homoerotic teenage-boy-fantasy plot and characters.

To make a movie out of a game where every cut-scene should be skipped (unless you are looking for a giggle) is tragic, it really shows how short of ideas Hollywood must be.

Bioshock is a very clever game that plays around with what it is to be the lead character in a computer game...I just don't see how they can make a film out of this without so much of what made Bioshock special being lost in translation.

It will be a shit film.

Honestly, staying "true to the game" wouldn't be great either in this case, considering Gears' story is an almost Doom-level excuse to string together its missions.

I would say that people should pick games with better stories to make movies out of, but then I realize that those are the games I'd actually care about when some Hollywood idiot messes them up.
