Can someone explain to me what a geek "looks like"? I was under the impression that your hobbies/interests define whether you are one, not your appearance.

I have several friends who could be considered geeks. Maybe only one of them looks a bit geeky/nerdy.

Hobby isn't enough, because strange behaviour is required.

It isn't trendy. People look at you funny. And judge you. No real change from the usual, of course.

First of all I'm much older than twelve. I guess I was too quick in my statement. What I mean is this generation has the media portray geeks and nerds as 'world changers'. I guess they would be sort of a 'hipster' if they talked about 'retro games' and obscure 80's junk, but that's today view of a geek. Back then it was just D&D and high pants.

On topic, I guess for me it depends on a lot of factors - prinicpally smell. I'm sorry, but there are a lot of 'geeks' out there who don't wash nearly as often as they should, and have dirty clothes and lank greasy hair - girls and guys. Yeah, I know that when you have an important game to finish, and you stay up all night and then still have to go to uni in the morning, you might not look your best, but seriously, I know 'geeks' who seem to have just given up on personal hygiene altogether. Yeuch.

Aside from that, I happen to find geeks sexy - my boyfriend is one and he's gorgeous - and no, he's not an underwear model who happens to like games, he's just an academic geek and gamer who is sweet and smart and funny. So yeah - if they wash and they're not total dickheads personality-wise, I'm a huge fan of geeks, probably because I am one!

No, I don't particularly find the fact that a woman is a geek attractive. Yes, if I am attracted to a woman at all and I find out she also loves video games, or D&D or what-have-you I find them more attractive its true, but there needs to be something that attracts me originally anyway. If I there is a girl who I am attracted to who has no problem with me being rather dorky then I will still find them just as attractive. I don't think their level of geekiness is something that is attractive in itself, but I do think it is something that is a catalyst for further attraction.

Now if I found a girl who I was attracted to who loved dragons a fraction as much as I... woah... marry them on the motherfucking spot.
