This will be fun :D

Why can I see this call out ending in strange bank transactions from Simmions to a GUM clinic for no apparent reason other than some Anon thought it'd be funny.

Anon, bringer of doom, farter of popcorn.

I'm all for protecting your works but people really blow this out of proportion. I seriously doubt anyone's been reduced to panhandling because some teens downloaded a bunch of Justin Bieber CDs. While I don't endorse this sort of thing, I haven't forgotten that the music industry was involved in a huge price-fixing scam years ago. Both sides are villains as I see it.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!

Either we're looking at a good performance, or a one-scene amateur hour with an abrupt ending.

I'm pretty sure Anon will win, per usual. People threaten them everyday. I doubt this will be much different.
I have a suggestion for Gene somewhat along those lines, why not look at the track record Scientology has trying to track down Anonymous. He can pretty much see where his little row is going by looking at the track record of everyone whose tried to catch the legion.

Now, I'm not on anybodies side save mine, which is the side that is mildly interested in seeing how this turns out. I agree that the music industry suffers greatly because of downloading and its unfortunate, but rather than go out and boisterously threaten people Gene, playing your cards close to your chest and keeping a tight lip works better than obstreperously declaring yourself. Doesn't Yahtzee always say its a bad idea to telegraph one's attack?

well so much for liking simmons, he sounds like a pretty big dick
Ya, he's a total dick for vowing to go after people who are engaged in illegal activities, including attacking his own site. He should learn that these crimes don't hurt anybody, and that poor college kids can't afford to buy music so should be given it for free.

Oh wait...
No, he's a total dick for wanting to crush every last one of their lives. That makes him a freaking Bond villain.

* casually sits on the side of anon*

*waits for simmons organs to be smeared on the wall and the inevitable meme invention that will follow*

Also, from what I can see, this is like Dr.doom vs lex luthor

Well, Simmons doesn't half-ass anything. I expect this to be a good show.
They have already DDOS a ton of his partner sites, found a sex tape where he cheats on his girlfriend/wife thingy, with a girl who wont even kiss him, despite him trying, and they plan on doing more.

Pretty sure he's lost..

Yeah good luck Gene... I can't see this ending well, his career as a mediocre rock star will only help him so much.

People already aren't paying attention to the fact that it's illegal to download music/movies because it's largely uninforced. Think threatening them with a $20 fine is going to change that?

Provide a few examples of people getting fucked over as a concequence and provide proof of the ability to track down who does, and suddenly a lot less people will take the chance.

Those who still do have made their own decision. They know the concequence, and have chosen a course of action anyway. I have no sympathy.

The current (my) generation of 15-28 year olds need to learn that they can and should be held responsible for their own actions, something society has done a shit poor job of doing recently.
Don't get me wrong, I don't support piracy (exception to the rule being when something is impossible to attain any other way). However, it is a completely overblown reaction to ruin the lives of people who steal even 10 songs (a grand worth of $10).

Same goes for the court cases where a woman was sued $2,000,000 for sharing 24 songs. That sort of punishment is beyond excessive; it's impossibly greedy.
First, BigEaZyE, your point is an excellent one (u da man!)

Second, JeanLuc761, ur point is a widely shared but slighty missinformed opinion (really trying not to put u down or anything of the sort)
most people seem to be under the impression that the lawsuits or jailtime are a response to the monitary amount or quantity of songs pirated, truth is is has nothing to do with the worth of the songs but the charge of "copywrite infringment" (a criminal charge where million dollar fines and jail time ARE appropriate sentencing), your not being charged with a 99cent internet theft your charged with violating a contracted term of intellectual property,
but you have a bunch of 15-28 year olds with not only an incomplete understanting of law but also a user friendly method of pirating, but tools that allow folks to commit a crime more easily doesn't and shouldn't make the sentencing any less severe, when handguns were invernted the sentencing for a murder charge wasn't lessened just because the crime became easier to commit (and no, im not saying piracy is the same as murder, im just using murder-law as a way to illustrate my point, piracy is not murder)

google Gene Simmons Sex tape
and Gene Simmons 4chan attack

I would post links, but it links to a porn site, and that would probably result in a suspension.

*grabs the popcorn.

This should be fun to watch.
Someone record it and put it on youtube so we don't have to pay Gene to watch the fight.

He's screwed. They are Anonymous, they do not forgive, they do not forget.
Seriously though, he will find one or two guys and his site will be hammered into oblivion. I wouldn't be surprised if an excessive amount of Guy Fawkes masks are seen around his house.

a lot of people go on about anonymous just being teens causing minor trouble such as downloading a few songs. You could actually try reading up on them. What they've done goes from minor pranks to full on racism, and illegal hacking. And everything in between.

Good luck to him. I am getting sick of this "Don't mess with Anonymous" fear that so many people seem to feel.
As am I. While I respect Anonymous's noble attempts, such as "Cheer Up Keanu" day, for the most part Anonymous is a terrible, terrible thing. I hope Mr. Simmons succeeds.
this is basically what "i" was trying to say before people assumed i was a fox news junkie who got a hard-on whenever someone says "Obama is a socialist"

this is why internet trolls should really suffer... it's not that i want to see piracy be taken away (i rather like not having to make life decisions when i want to listen to the latest Megadeth album) i want them to stop abusing their power and taking down anyone who slightly angers them... because that makes them dangerous in more ways than one
Agreed. Anon has hacked peoples' bank accounts because they think it's funny.

Anon must die.

Much as I don't agree with Gene's and the RIAA's attitude on downloading on some parts, I can definitely appreciate and am excited about where this is going.
This is definitely a chance for Anonymous to show what they are made of, and hopefully it is more than just weak-ass-yesterday's-news DDOS attacks.

I, for one, am rooting for Anon.

Gene is probably just pissed because he's already earned money on eveything else and can't afford to cover his house with gold because people use things like TPB or Spotify to listen to his songs...

Also, I saw the South Park episode where Cartman makes that Christian rock band, which also has a little side-story about Stan, Kyle and Kenny being arrested for downloading music, and it pretty much sums up my opinion on file-sharing on the internet.

If some company makes $100.000.000 instead og $200.000.000. i'm not shedding a single tear fro them.

Oh man, this will be cool. Even though I don't support piracy, I'll still have to side Anonymous on this one. I mean I've used the internet for a song or two. Screw the MPAA and WMG, they keep deleting my favorite songs from Youtube.
