Anonymous didn't invent the word, nor motto. They borrowed it as I did, so I disagree.

The fact that the name and phrase is from The Bible, and Anonymous are generally seen as an Atheist group, now that's irony.

I think your name is ironic because it's something The Many would use, but you have SHODAN as an avatar.

Ok so Anon is the combined forces of 4chan and beyond. Gene said some dumb shit, anon hacked them, he said more dumb shit and they hacked him again. . . hmm, know what we need to get this realy going? Gene to get a few hackers of his own and hit 4chan. Gene said nothing before the first hack. They hacked his site for who and what he supports. Anon shouts out about freedom of speech and expression. Well this is one of the biggest hypocritical statements they have done that I can think of in recent memory.

Nothing will happen though. A few people will go to jail, millions more won't, Gene will make more money, lots of other people won't, nothing about the general state of play will really change. Both Gene and Anon are well-meaning paper tigers that despite their power and influence in their respective fields can't truly effect the overarching situation as much as both would like to.

EDIT: Isn't funny how few people even entertain the idea of a violent attack to get ones point across. Imagine the difference the public would make if every time something that's detrimental to them ie DRM, speed cameras etc was implemented people just destroyed whoever and whatever was the source of it all? *Sigh* much as it grates on me to side with a bunch of internet terrorists over an 80's rockstar, I have to admit that Gene Simmons is WAAAY out of line here, especially considering that he's talking about ruining people for the sake of a few cents, when he has more money than any of them will ever even see. Also, Anonymous have been involved in some good causes too, though maybe not for the right reasons. I really don't think either side deserves any success here.

Thats a very short sighted view. Yeah, it might get something done at first, but then the people with other opinions will resort to violence too, and there will be retribution attacks, and the whole thing will quickly spiral out of control. Imagine THAT every time some guy gets pissed off about something.

I really hope Anonymous wins this fight. I understand points on both sides of the legal argument, but that's not really what I'm thinking about at the moment. Anonymous represents the common man. Albeit a very messed up common man, but the common man none the less. I want to see celebrity status, with all it's flashy money, taken down a goddamn notch. Actually, nevermind. I was just halfway through repeating what I said again and then I realised that you won't get what I'm trying to say anyway. I don't know why your response was so hostile when I never disagreed with anything you said in the first place. Perhaps you lack the "mental fortitude" to understand that.

Suffice it to say that you totally missed my point and I never said anything about whether I think downloading music is ok or not. Simply put: "Losses" is the wrong word. Actually, there. That's my point. Yes, it's irrelevant to "the discussion" but I don't recall participating in whatever discussion you're apparently in anyway.
