He's the real deal. And last time I checked, he was a lonely man in his mid-40s with a shit ton of money that he got from MS.

Oh yeah, that's another thing; How the fuck is copyright gonna work if Minecraft 2 does come out?
Maybe this'll make people like Notch again. Because wealth didn't, as I remember a tweet basically complaining about that. Impressive really, being such a douche not even loads of money succeeded in making people grit their teeth and pretend.

This piece of news happened a month ago, and I did not pay attention to it, but it made me go "What really?" now that I saw it, so I am posting it here to see if this really is something to raise your eyebrows at:

Paradox Interactive and Ubisoft announces a joint bundle of Victoria 3 and Anno 1800

In my mind bundles are usually connected via coming from the same publisher, or being from the same series in instances when a series has different publishers for different entries; here is a bundle that come from two major publishers whose connection is that they cover the same era. Is that something that really happens? I would think that the publishers are competitors and not wanting to promote each other's works.

Looking over the games themselves, I see that Victoria 3 has garnered a "mixed" reception, which is the view I've gotten from watching people stream it, and Anno 1800 has gotten a "very positive" reception, which leads me to believe that this has little to do with their reception.
Maybe the publishers felt that industrial-revolution-strategy-game is so niche that they would do better cooperating.
Or they're trying to gauge if the strategy game community prefers city builder RTS to grand strategy.

Reminds me of how Naughty Dog and Insomniac used to cross-promote Crash and Spyro games.

Platinum Games loses yet another of its lead creatives. Guess platinum does lose its luster.

Coincidentally, Tinari is also the bloke that helped save the only known unit of the largest CRT television ever produced.

What a champ

I'm shocked there was anyone talented still left there. The company is pretty much dead to me at this point. All the good talents and people there left. The only remaining people are just there for a next paycheck and the dumb ass executive at the very top.

I mean yeah their latest releases have been subpar to absolute dog shit. Bayonetta 3, Transfomers: Devastation, and Babylon's Fall (LOL) are a far cry from what they were coming up with in terms of the company's earlier career.

Transformers Devastation sold great, and many action game fan still revear it today. Too bad you can't get it digitally anymore, but I kept my physical copy. So you better go to a second hand store if you want it. You.
are thinking of that ninja turtles game that didn't do well.

Bayonetta 3, despite being a contested, sequel was considered a success by both Platinum and Nintendo. While I have my problems with the game. I still consider it a good game

That one you are correct.

Good news: most of Platinum went back to Capcom or some place better.

Sure, Bayo 3 hasn't sold terribly, but have you ever heard of something that's sometimes called the Switch Effect?

Basically, people noticed a phenomenon where new entries of a Nintendo franchise on Switch tended to sell better than usual for that franchise, often becoming some of if not the best selling entry within their respective franchise, and often also rejuvenating interest. Examples include Mario Kart, Zelda, Pikmin, Kirby, Splatoon, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, Mario Party, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Xenoblade, and even Pokemon. This also extends to a lesser extent to a lot of rereleases. There's various reasons for this, one of the obvious ones being the Switch's massive fucking install base.

As for Bayo: by all accounts I could find, Bayo 3 sold less than the Switch port of Bayo 2, which in turn sold ever so slightly less than the Switch port of Bayo 1. Tho Bayo 2 Switch did outsell the Wii U version, tho that's not that a big an achievement. And Bayo 1 Switch did sell better than the OGs on PS3 and 360 individually (but by a small margin in the PS3s case), tho the best selling version of Bayo 1 remains PC. And Bayo Origins, well, not much numbers available, but that seems to have bombed pretty hard.

If this Switch Effect was in play for Bayo, it seems to have been nominal at best.

Tho should be noted Bayo is not really a Nintendo franchise as they only own the copy- and publishing rights to Bayo 2, 3 and Origins, while Sega still owns the full rights to Bayo 1, as well as the trademark to the Bayonetta franchise as a whole.

The turtle was happy and platinum was happy, so i'm not gonna complain about it. As for the "switch effect", I don't believe in it.
These games either do well or they don't. I was happy when the switch version of Bayonetta 2 sold much better than the Wii U version. Lots of ports from Wii U did but that doesn't diminish what the game accomplished better.

Platinum didn't even want to port the original game to PS3. That's why they gave it to Sega to do the job. The game was originally supposed to be a 360 exclusive. So while the 360 version itself better, it only sold worse because a lot of japanese players didn't like 360. And of course, Sega Barely advertise the game. That version is still better than the porting disaster that is the PS3 port.

It's CES 2025, and Nvidia just annouced their RTX 50 series
chrome_la2bFSFN4P.png

Oh but we aint done yet; here are the prices for Laptops that somehow fits in these huge GPUs:
50 laptop.PNG

Apparently these GPUs will have AI tech to really squeeze out extra pixels.

I mean wtf are these prices? They better have some amazing countermeasures against scalpers and these better be one hell of a GPU series, if they cost more than a plane ticket

The 50 series will have AI upscaling, you say?

...how much do the 40-series cards go for these days?
not $2000, that's for sure.

Tho, it is interesting hear from him claiming that RTX 5070 will have equivalent performance as 4090.

4090 is currently $1600, and 5070 is priced at $550. I have no idea how that works
