AAAAaaaand now, in my PS library are games I do not own or may not even be out yet, with a lock emblem on them. They tell me this game is coming out (just in case I want to buy an $80 game I didn't even know was coming out.

I've been beginning to feel like I'm aging out of gaming, as I went from watching zero TV to watching more TV than gaming these days. While I'm still excited for some things coming out which I'm sure is a huge revelation for you guys, but I feel like I'm becoming the right age to no longer give a shit about any of this. I'll play old shit, and watch decades of TV I've been missing.

I've felt this way for a while. The future looks bleak, but I've got a closet full of gaming history and good memories I can revisit at a moment's notice because I own the physical copy of the games. Also, rewatching It's Always Sunny I Philadelphia is never I thing I won't want to do,

Seriously though, if the future of gaming is +$1,000 consoles and $100 digital-only games I don't actually own, and those games are just going to be the 45th Assassin's Creed, Madden 2,679, or Call of Duty: World at Black Ops War 5, I might actually be done. I'm admitting my part in "the problem" when I assert I will be buying GTA6 (yes, the $100 Ultimate Edition,) but after this, there is nothing I'm really looking forward to that will go beyond this generation as it stands. Maybe GTA7 in the year 2052, but by that time, my medical bills will probably have made the decision for me. I should probably buy up some 360 and PS3 controllers/charging cables before they go full "vintage" price mode.

That's nothing new, and I was already doing that since 2021. I don't play a lot of games anymore (still a decent amount) but I just picked the games I know that are worth my time and investment.Or i'm going to like. It helps most of the games.I play are short games. I've been usually watching TV (mostly cartoons and anime), or reading books and comics whenever I'm not gaming or take a break from it. It all happens to us at some point.

Just a few weeks ago I read the Street Fighter novel. Recently i've been reading African tales, myths, and short stories in this hand sized book with a lot of pages.

We all feel that way

Probably a combination of how we have all seen the gameplay loop of the new games and they don't excite us anymore, plus how the gaming landscape has changed for the worst. If I was interested in 8+ games that all comes out in the same year in the past and around 4 of them aree a geiune hype from me, nowadays it's rare for me to get excited for more than 1 or 2 games.

For me, I have been doing a lot more reading and practicing guitar, and legos. I also have been more active in hanging out a few people in real life, doing fun stuff together like board games.

Volunteering every Saturday gives me a rewarding experience, way better than grinding to reach higher tier in any competitve pvp games I've played.

I have been playing my guitar a shitload too.

I should also visit retro gaming stores as there are two in my area and stock up on retro consoles and gaming history to play forever.

So there is a lot of Sony hate going on and I just wanted to remind people that Microsoft is a villain too https://kotaku.com/xbox-layoff-3200-most-significant-restructure-history-2000712836
Well, there is a lot of Microsoft hate floating around as well. But it is nearly all about Copilot shenanigans, Win 11 push, forced cloud operations, enforced shut down of stuff with perpetual licences, bugs without end, forced cloud nonsense ...

However it seems people just don't really care about Xbox anymore. All the games are on proper PCs anyway.

Hmm... seeing the general feeling in this thread, this might as well be the point I announce that I deleted everything.

Steam, GOG, Ubisoft, EA, Epic, Itch. All gone forever.

My Au revoir thread a few years ago covers it pretty well, but sometimes I would get bored, download a game off steam or wherever, spend half a day passing the time with it and then get to the end an feel pretty revolted and realise there was a ton of better shit to do and i just wasted my precious day off. So I decided to solve that problem permanently.

I'm nearing retirement. I can't tell you how many people I know in my shoes terrified that they have no idea what they want to do with their time once retired. Me? I just outraced a giant mech robot in Japan in Forza Horizon 6. I know what I'll be doing with some of my time.

Steam, GOG,
You can do whatever you want, but at least keep your gog account.

AAA? Big yes on me avoiding a majority of those. I'm still interested in new games, but it's strictly from indie and AA.

I hope you have a fun time doing it. I, however, will not be doing anything like that. I have done very little gaming over the last 2 years, and even back to 2018 things had fallen off drastically. Every time I do play, I end up regretting what is to me, the waste of a day.

It's 2 weeks gone already, started the deletion process over a month ago. Steam and Ubisoft take 30 days, GOG and Epic 2 weeks. EA & Itch will delete once you've spoken to a CS rep.

Yes Asha Sharma fired many people from the Xbox diversion, but Sharma who may be super-ruthless at-least didn't shut down any more studios (To the best of my knowledge).

Sony's decision is basically one part killing GameStop, and many small businesses, second part acting as a platform store monopoly not unlike Apple's US diversion. Xbox should create streamlined PC like consoles.

Plus Sony knows better, this is their core-business.

The FF7 mobile game is dead. So that whole remade story, access to Before Crisis, First Soldier storylines are all vanishing.

Hopefully they remake this game into a single player experience so that people can still enjoy the stories, because it seems like a lot of wasted work to throw away. I mean they remade the entire FF7 saga in this game, which is like 5 entire video games and a movie thrown into this.

Maybe it'll get the Brave Exveus treatment, but....fuck.
