which is just the GPU I have. But 4080 or better for ultra 4k? good god. I think I can maybe pull off non-4k Ultra. It's also embracing the $70 price tag. I'd imagine this was outside of ID Software's control, and it was decided between Bethesda/MS

Guess I’ll play it in oh, another ten years or so when all this bs boils over and the industry hardware/software practices return to some level of normalcy.
TL;DR for those who don't want to watch the whole video:
- As shown in the first trailer, this game is a prequel to Doom 2016. DDA will apparently end in with how the Doomslayer was sealed away in the sarcophagus that we see in the beginning of Doom 2016
- As such, we'll get to experience all those events that were written in the codex found in Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal
- Shieldsaw will be with you always (at least I think?), and it can be used to cut down enemies, block projectiles, use it for parrying, throw it like a frisbee, or bash enemies for stun
- The stunned enemies are vulnerable to finishers, but it has changed. While there won't be those animated glory kills anymore, you can now aim for specific body parts of demons from any angle and use melee/weapons to deal precise damage, without being locked into an animation. So I could cut off the arms of a demon, ignore it, and continue fighting others. Or with the Pinky demon riders, I could aim for them, and hit them off the Pinky, etc. The main purpose is to keep the gameplay fluid.
- You will have three melee weapons to play with:
- Doom mace
- Flail
- And electro-gaunlet
- Another huge change is the difficulty slider; Yes, there is the master difficulty option, but then you have all these sub-sliders to control how hard the game is. How much damage you take, damage you do, game speed, enemy projectile speed, parry window, stun duration, etc.
- I find parry window and stun animation to be really interesting; I think this is the first game w/ parry mechanic that lets players control the parry window
- The giant mech and the cyber-dragon will have a fully-fleshed out controls and mechanics! Prepare for giant mech battles or riding your dragon turning everything into ashes
- No multiplayer
- No Mick Gordon. Really unfortunate what happened between him and Id Software
- Coming out in May 15th, 2025!
That does sound pretty good, at least for a trailer several months out from release, but my hardware's too dated to actually run the game on my PC and I don't do FPS well on console controllers. I'll probably have to either wait until I get a GPU upgrade (and who knows when that'll be) or skip entirely.
Though I never did finish Eternal so at least I'll have that to keep me busy.
Well that's not fair. I'm glad I have a PS5.

TLDR: Folks were making a Vice City mod for GTA4. They had posted a trailer on their YT channel and announced a release date. Take Two had their YT channel taken down two day before release. So the team shadowdropped the mod into the wild.
Just some really solid advice for modders and fangame creators, until the work's actually available:
And they still released it anyways, lol. And because it's free to download by anyone, it's gonna make it impossible to truly stop the distribution of the mod.
