Jason Schreier on gaming journalism jobs
View attachment 12864

IDK, Jason. Maybe if the so-called "journalists" stop masquerading their opinion pieces as factual articles, people might respect the roles more. Let's not forget how "chasing traffic" has turned into always finding something to complain about in popular games.
Unless they’re reporting on a factual event, game - indeed most entertainment - journalism is inherently opinion pieces because most of it is reviews and those are opinions. Some of them are batshit nuts, but that’s people for you.

The guy at the top isn’t incorrect either but writing an article about layoffs has the same logic as the old “if it bleeds it leads” since we’re pathological about reading about misery that isn’t our own.

It never ceases to amaze how companies constantly try to pull some bs just because they’re “top dog”, and then the underdog has to be like, “No, this is better.”

Endless cycle of insanity.

I’m still playing on the GTX1070 I bought in 2017, and it’s been doing well for what I’ve played. Now with AMD putting up a good fight maybe the price of slightly old cards will start falling for whenever I have to inevitably upgrade.

It looks like "Crysis meets Hard Reset". One of those games was actually good. I wonder which one this will take after?
I take it you are referring to Hard Reset as the good game. I can agree with you there; mainly the Redux port that came out on consoles.

A group of modders have created Xbox 360 recompilation tools that they used to port Sonic Unleashed to pc, tho technically these tools could be used to get any 360 to run natively on pc.

Oh, no no no no. I could not stand Hard Reset. Somewhere in the "what are you playing" thread I complained about muddy visuals, confusing enemy design, pointless story and how annoying it was for the player character to scream like a fresh amputee even when he takes literally one point of damage. Played it once and uninstalled it.

Redux Cleans up some of the visuals and makes the game easier. You get a sword too. I would play HR(R) over Crysis 1. Not the sequel though

Is that like a bolt on emulator or just some sort of like transcriber?

There's a couple of 360 game I wouldn't replaying that aren't available, like project sylpheed.

It's not an emulator or translation layer. They used tools to decompile the 360 game it and then recompiled it into a native Windows executable, after which they could then add in additional features like graphics options. It's basically a port, the same process, more or less, to make those pc versions of Mario 64 and Zelda Ocarina.

It's a Suikoden free for all. HD re-releases of the first two games, and a new free-to-play title.

Gal Guardians: Servants of the Dark

Sequel to the previous game. This game is a metroidvania instead of the level based games (with hidden paths) like the previous game.

Sadly I don't think that's likely. The 50 series are a fucking wash so the 40 series and at least the 3090, maybe the 3080Ti, are retaining value. Anyone with anything from the 4070 up has no reason to upgrade at all, anyone with a 3090 is probably only going to want the 5090 but those are ludicrously expensive. And AMD did a stupid thing where the two cards - 9070 and 9070 XT are only priced $50 or so apart but that extra $50 is worth it cos the XT kicks its ass.

Looks like I'm going back to Team Red for GPUs this next year or so, because frankly the $500 delta between the 9070XT and 5070Ti isn't worth it because most of it is productivity features I don't use. People are telling me AMD's drivers aren't shit any more, so, maybe its time to put that to the test.
