I disagree. I played the Oblivion Remake, and at least they are trying to be innovative. They just need better writers and gameplay.
1. Bethesda didn't make the Oblivion Remaster
2. Of course a remake of a good game will also be good, especially when it's just a fresh coat of paint.
3. Saying they need better writers and gameplay is like saying "This ice cream would be good if it was pizza instead."

The only time I felt the writing was good in any in-house Betheshda games are New Vegas, and some parts of Fallout 4 with specific side quests.

New Vegas wasn't Bethesda, it was Obsidian. Hence why it was actually well-written.

Fallout 3 was good too.

An actual remake of the first Halo game. And you know what? It looks really cool! Crazy to see PS5 as one the release platforms, but hey it looks way better than Gearbox's Halo CEA
So turns out this remake is being built on UE5.

That kinda makes me worried; Because UE5 remakes has always been a gamble; It's either a great success or a soulless reskin.

Graphics might be pretty, but the soulless remakes tend to make unnecessary changes and having none at all where QoL improvements are necessary (i.e. Oblivion still having that janky combat and awful dialog minigame).

I loved the first Halo game. I will remain cautiously optimistic.

I have a feeling it will be good since its a remake of Halo which had a really great campaign, but not a fan of unreal. Even when its used well it runs hot.

The Console Wars, which apparently lasted from November 11, 2001 to October 26, 2025, are officially over. Gamestop says so.

Which is bullshit of course, the console wars aren't over until I can play Uncharted on Game Boy.

The war might not be over, but Xbox lost, Nintendo gave up, and Playstation is confused.

Ubisoft is planning another set of layoffs; But they are politely asking employees to lay themselves off, and calls it "voluntary career transition program"

Now since Ubisoft is a corpo in France, and I don't know how employment laws work for international companies, but I am willing to bet they are doing this to not pay any sort of severance or unemployment benefit.

What a disgusting bunch

Ai will rise whether people like it or not.
But if its not ready for the lime light and gets pushed too hard then it will fall just as fast as people lose trust in it. Only difference between it and a lot of snake oil is the potential for it, not what it can do right now.

I dunno, voluntary layoffs [I think] typically come with some sort of compensation package to incentivize people to take the deal. I can't imagine you'd get a lot of takers if it was just "fire yourself, and good like out there, please?" Not excusing a move like this from a notoriously ruthless and sleazy industry, but I'd at least credit them to be smart enough not to be that dumb. The voluntary package likely has less benefits than they'd get with forced severance, so the move is likely more along the lines of "let's see who we can convince to weed themselves out on the cheap before we force everyone we WANT out at a premium." The gamble being which employees think themselves one of the few who thinks they're going to survive this game of chicken.

Now that I think on it, the opposite could also be a case, i.e.: offering a premium severance to volunteers, and firing the rest for nickels and dimes? I know I'd certainly at least consider it if there was the potential to get fired anyway and end up with less. I dunno all the ins-and-outs of legal employment terms, but I could easily see HR and the legal department conspiring for maximum benefit.
