When I hang around my friends or family I am usually one of the smarter people unless I hang out with my few 4.0 friends then I feel like an idiot but I actually like talking to people who are smarter than me because I can't explain things well and the smart people don't need anyone to tell them what it is/is like, while your smart friends try to explain to you things you can't understand. (like imaginary numbers I still can't understand that)

Do you like being the idiot or the smart guy when you get together with your friends?

I enjoy being the smart one of the bunch, seeing as I'm a pretty bright guy...not to mention, a very arrogant one to boot!

Smart guy. It just suits me. Also, considering the mental capacity of some people in my school, no wait, state, no wait, country, no wait, continent, no wait, world, it would be pathetic to NOT be the smart guy (edit) It would probably require some awful brain tumor coupled with massive head trauma

But 9 out of 10, it makes no difference. Both talk in ways that others have no idea wtf they are talking about

Usually the smart guy, being an idiot makes me feel bad and my friends usually get pissed with explaining things. I'm not even that smart, for some reason everyone just tells me I am. It's weird. But so am I so yay.

neither. Heck I perfer it when it's "equal" but maybe I'm just one of those people who thinks that no one is really "idiotic"

Everyone just knows more about certain tpoics. For example one of my friends could make me look like an idiot if he was talking about the NFL or football in general (I know a bit but hes crazy about it). However I probably know way more about fishing and archery.

So when it comes down to it I guess it's all about the topic.

EDIT: but uh for the question's sake the smart guy of course =p

Imaginary Number = Square root of a negative. It's really not that hard.

I like my dumber friends because they tend to inadvertently flatter my ego. I enjoy the company of the odd polymath, but I don't like the feeling of racking my brain to keep up. By and large, it doesn't really matter.

I usually end up in the middle. I rarely hang out with one person at a time. Normally I hang out with two others and in that group there is usually the idiot, the genius, and then me. I suppose I enjoy being in the middle ground. The one thats smart enough to understand the thoughts of the genius and dumb enough to understand the ramblings of the idiot. A liaison of sorts.

Definatley agree, some of my friends can be described as "genius" while others.......not so much. I'm not dumb to not understand everything but I'm not so smart that I get on people's nerves.

I procrastinate WAY too much to be "smart" in school. Then again school can be a horrible way to measure ones intelligence but that is another story.

I can and enjoy hanging out with both, total idiots excluded because then every sentance needs explaining, ONE GUY comes to mind lol...........

I never feel stupid around my intelligent friends because if I suddenly do, which is rare, i simply switch the conversation from computer programming, which I can do but am not brilliant at, to politics or rock and roll, which i know more about than just about ne 1 i know.

in addition I seem to have inherated my fathers talent of throwing my iq into a box and unlocking it if i feel a need, because i can enjoy the lowest of the low brow when it comes to humor as well as the highest of the high brow.

i knew there had to be some upside to being my fathers son........ jk i love the guy

Considering that most of the people I work with fall under the "Legendary-thick-pants-on-head-retarded" crowd, I would have to go with smart.

Most of my friends are more knowledgable about stuff than I am but lack in common sense a little bit.

Ahaha, this is just one big congratulatory pat on the back isn't it?

I wouldn't say I'm the smartest by a long shot... I would say each of us in my group of friends has a specialty, and we're very knowledgeable in our respective studies. We all bring something to the table in discussions.

With my friends I'm the idiot. I am the rational one with common sense that can at least lead to make proper decisions however. It is a good trade off because when it comes to taking action I am not afraid and they usually have a good plan but not willing to act upon it. They also have the patience to explain things to me because they know that if I ask they know I do not understand and WANT to learn.
I can empathize with that role.

I would have to say I'm more of a listener then a degree of knowledge. You can only hold a conversation on facts or different viewpoints for so long. I'm sort of interested in hearing the experiences/how things work from other people. Kinda like reading a book, but ALOT more interesting. And awesome inside jokes come about.

I prefer being thought as or even the 'dumb' one of the group. There is no pressure on you, and you can get away with saying things that are wrong without being called out viciously for it.
