George Lucas is "Retiring" From Film

Lucas really should have just had the prequels done by directors besides him (seriously, imagine a Star Wars film done by Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, or Christopher Nolan and written by people just as talented). I'll admit Lucas has great ideas but he's never been great as execution. Even in the first film (the only one he wrote or directed) he didn't do much and there were some lines so horrible in the script that Ford is on record saying "You can write this shit, but you sure as HELL can't say it." There's a reason films have a lot of people working on them and why director-driven pet projects tend to be seen as self-indulgent, arrogant, narcissistic sludge (like Heaven's Gate, Red State, One From the Heart, post-Unbreakable Shyamalan, every fuckin' pseudo-film Terrence Malick has ever made). George obviously can't take criticism and this show just comes off as him being an unprofessional baby.
Why is everybody getting angry at people being annoyed that the original trilogy was constantly being edited, remastered, changed-up and re-edited some more?
I just have to say.
NOBODY IS ANGRY ABOUT THE PREQUEL TRILOGY. OR THE CLONE WARS. OR ANY EXPANDED UNIVERSE.

The films are out there. You are THE definitive science fantasy franchise. You can now step away from your thirty year old films (Yeah, I don't know how old they actually are) and focus on doing something else. STOP TOUCHING THEM.

But it's not just us. Look at the assorted comments featuring old interview segments and letters. A man who has just completed an amazing trilogy of films, your own past self, is also telling you you're a terrible filmmaker.
