The best part is that other governments are lobbying to get Crytek to move to their country, if the ban passes. One man's loss is another man's gain, I suppose, and a stable company, with ~100+ great-paying jobs in a shit economy is a very big gain.
Everyone, mount your airships and equip your best weapons and armor. We're about to move out to raid their government.mattttherman3 said:Apparently Germany is about to declare war on the gammers. I'm not surprised.
In trying to put aside their brutal past, they are repeating it. This is the great irony of their methods. The Youth Counselor said:The sad thing from what I understand is, a lot of the heavy German censorship stems from the fear of nazism. The Great JT said:I see they're still nazis over there...
The country really doesn't want to bring back any signs of their National Socialist past and have outright banned fascist affiliations and ludicrous uses of the symbol. Even using a crossed out swastika or symbol of one being thrown in the trash ended up having charges brought up against people.
They really don't want people thinking they are a violent country, so according to German friends, anything that could incite it is suppressed.
It's a shame that legislators don't see that the suppressing freedom was what fascism is all about.
Mario encourages violence against goombas, koopas, and a variety of other species by stereotyping them as inhuman monsters who merely want to cause struggle. It must be banned!T-Bone24 said:What do they count as violent? Is Mario violent? Is Burnout violent?
I can see them saying that head stomping and high speed crashes increase after someone plays one of those games...T-Bone24 said:What do they count as violent? Is Mario violent? Is Burnout violent?
LOL, too true, and a good point, where do you draw the line of 'violant'bernthalbob616 said:I can see them saying that head stomping and high speed crashes increase after someone plays one of those games...T-Bone24 said:What do they count as violent? Is Mario violent? Is Burnout violent?
They have a LOT more to lose than to gain from this that's for sure. Crytek is "one of the world?s leading independent development studios for interactive entertainment with its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main" [1], which indicates that it probably generates A LOT of revenue, stimulating the German economy. That's generally a good reason for a parliament to vote no to bans like these.johnman said:Apparently the parliment vote no on all of these Bans as they are generally much more level headed with nothing to gain from a ban.
I picture empty cities, seriously how many people can say that they don't play atleast some games that are 'violant', on different levels of time consumption.Jon Etheridge said:For some reason I picture a giant pile of burning games.
It has support from the Interior Ministers of all 16 German states...Hardcore_gamer said:I doubt this will get through. It's not enough for just some people within the government too demand that video games are banned. The whole thing need too go trough a process and i doubt it will get through.
