I like the Nord... it's a good beginner's race I believe.

Also there's this...

Everything you'll ever need to know and tips for beginners.

The nord's a terrible race.. cold resistance? are you joking me?

No you want the Breton, even as a melee character you can't top its racials and innate 50% magic resistance. With the atronach it's a beast.

Get mods to enhance your graphics because by now they indeed are terrible. Use a mod to axe the cliff racers from the game entirely, seriously, they were an awful fucking idea. Don't bother with medium armour, it's all crap.

The graphics back then ruined the experience for me. I finished Oblivion and thoroughly enjoyed it. I played up to about level 6 in Morrowind and then turned it off.

Get the Boots of Blinding Speed. They fix the slow starting pace problem. And if you dont like the fact that they make you blind, play as a Breton or max out your Willpower as soon as you can.

F*cking Cliff Racers!
Good Haruhi THIS

Win, by the way.

I got a lot of use out of the Atronach birthsign. I know the Stunted Magicka thing kinda sucks (have to have potions or spell absorb to restore magic power, you can't rest and get it back), BUT the 50% full time spell absorption really helps later on against some of those Sixth House jerks and daedra. Go in with a melee class and a couple of healing spells and clean up >:D Also: Lockpicking skill is very useful. Very.
For quicker leveling, make Acrobatics and Athletics some of your prime skills (Maybe not major ones, but the tier below it) and never underestimate the value of paying for training in your class skills. Sometimes a few hundred gold will equal a new level.
Oh, and Creeper in Caldera will be your bestest ever friend.

The interface is definitely built more for a PC experience than a console, but it's not unplayable...I got a Khajit character up to level 58 with my original, non-GOTY copy ages ago just fine.

You might want to consider getting a player's guide as well for some of the trickier parts. Morrowind really doesn't hold your hand at all and it's not too hard to get occasionally stuck.
Oh, and save often. :p

Be prepared to get completely annihilated the first couple of times out of the gate. Once you learn the system though it's a great game and you should enjoy it. Best of luck.

One more thing that's pretty relevant I think considering how early you can get them: If you use the scroll of Icarian Flight...save first. <_<

What reccomendations about this game do you have.
Search the internet for the Octopus Overlord mod set. Install AFTER playing Morrowind as-is first runthrough; it will revamp the game & give it fresh life & tollerable graphics.

They have decent stats and have something that can kill most lower enemies with one go. They really don't have a negative to them either.

But I agree a Breton can be better, they can be a bit more complicated is all.

Don't grab quests when you are busy doing other quests. The Journal is not very user friendly and can get cluttered fast. You will learn quickly when to expect certain dialogue options to trigger Journal updates and its better to remember to return to the quest giver rather than searching through your Journal for the update dozens of pages back.

Don't ever go to the ashlands. CLIFF RACERS WILL GET YOU! They will rape your face and haunt your dreams for nights to come!

If TES V features cliff racers I will make it the goal of my life to DESTROY THEM ALL!

Congratulations on getting, what is in my opinion, the most finely crafted game of all time.

In all honesty, we could give you all the suggestions and tips you could ever wish for and you will inevitably end up making 3 or 4 different characters to see what you like and don't like. In terms of character builds (race, class, starsign, etc...), you're really going to have to experiment and see for yourself. But what I can tell you are a few ways to make easy money out of the starting town.

1) Steal the limeware platter in the excise office.

In the room where you finalize your character and get your "papers", there will be a bookshelf to the right of you. On this bookshelf, there is a gold platter. Take it. Immediately open your inventory and drop it. The guard will run over and give you a slap on the wrist but you won't go to jail this time. Now you can pick the platter up again and the guards won't say a word. You can sell this piece for good money at the general store in town.

2) Steal everything you can from the excise office, no matter how worthless.

Steal everything you can - forks, knives, eggs, beer... whatever. This will help you barter with the general store merchant. Each time you sell an item, no matter what its value, the disposition of the merchant will increase by 1. Sell all the cheap shit one at a time to raise his disposition and then unload your big dollar items when he'll give you the best deals.

3)Give Fargoth his ring

There is a ring in a barrel in the courtyard of the excise office. Give it to Fargoth (The first person you'll meet after exiting the excise office). Doing so will increase the trader's disposition to 90ish (unless you're an orc or another race with below average starting personality). This will help you in your quest for moneez.

4) To the northwest of town, there is a dead body with 500 gold on him and assorted clothing/weaponry of shit quality. Take everything. You can return the gold to the excise office for a mini-quest or you can just keep the gold.

That's pretty much it for Seyda Neen. Travel North a little bit and you'll witness some airborne hilarity. Sorry for the wall of text; but, if you do that stuff you'll leave Seyda Neen with 2k+ gold and everybody loves gold.
