With the recent threads on how cartoons are becoming lame from some of the teenagers...When was the first time you commented on something only to find out the person you had been talking to couldn't have possibly known about it?

Just as a matter of fear:
House M.D. is 5 years old,
Pokemon is 10 years old,
Mr Plough on The Simpsons is 17 years old,
The Simpsons itself is 20 years old,
The Legend of Zelda is 23 years old,
Pacman is 29 years old,
Scooby Doo is 40 years old,
Nintendo is 120 years old.

On a previous site I used to visit I was talking to someone who didn't know about Chernobyl or the Challenger explosion.

South Park is 12... What's really going to freak me out is when GTA3 becomes 10 years old. Utterly depressing.

To be honest, I can't believe that "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" came out over 10 years ago, now.

I remember camping out the night before for tickets like it was yesterday.

Two words. Earthworm Jim. Kids these days don't understand the pure awesomeness of the cow.

Oh man, that cow.

I know I was really suprised when I found the Simpsons Movie was in 2007. I mean it's not that far back but it felt like 3 months back or so!

Computer programs use to run off floppy-disc, not hard-drives. I remember putting in the disc to whatever game I wanted to play, typing "run", and then going outside to play for an hour, just hoping the game would be loaded by the time I came back inside. That's when the console was a greater gaming platform because at least with the Atari all you had to do was put the cartridge in the slot and flip the power switch.

Also use to go to the movies and watch them while sitting uncofortably in the backseat of my parent's car. Sound sucked, coming through a little three inch speaker dangling from the driver's side window. And if it started to rain, that was it for the movie. Hell, half the time something would go wrong with the projector anyways. At least I got to see Revenge of the Nerds and Godzilla 1986 in completion.

Earthworm Jim, theres something I'd love to watch again.
Finally, people from my generation. When I talk about Thundercats, Bucky O'Hare and Freakazoid! my friends tend to look at me like I'm crazy.

Oh crap... I talk about Pacman all the time! D:

I feel pretty old... which is ironic as I'm actually not even 18 yet

But when that day comes... *shudders* I'll feel like a granny :O

Edit: I remember playing on a Sega Megadrive, I havent seen one in years now =[

I also made a He-Man/She-Ra reference the other day only to have the kid in question (she was about 16, maybe 17), look at me in confusion, having never seen or so much as heard of the show.
I've heard of He-Man and seen some clips of it, xD but yeah only people who I hang around with get the joke when I yell "With the power of Grey Skull!" in the street =[

Oh god...I remember some games used to come with up to 10 floppy discs, and there I was loading them in one after another just to do the install. And in mid-game sometimes, you'd still have to change discs.

There you go.

Oh, Animaniacs. Without a doubt, one of the most clever shows ever. And even old people laugh, it's not the random-is-funny bullshit thrown at kids (Though it is, at times.), it's a real clever, quality script.

Plus, there are songs. That teach stuff. Like how big the universe is.

Seriously, if anyone knows where I can find full episodes of this and Invader Zim, I will shoot you in the face if I am not told where.

ive had console systems whit no numbers at the end, i remember back when Denmark went crazy whit the fear of influenza and madcow disease, also cartoons, i don't wanna sound like an geezer who yells at children by saying cartoons where better back when i was a child, but they sure where different and made an bigger impact, i was talking to my 8 year old brother last about cartoons, he dont know transformers, earthworm jim, freakazoid, animaniacs or any of the cartoons that made my childhood worth remembering and being nostalgic over, he did know the batman cartoon and had the dvd so he showed it to me, instead of Gordon they have a black bald man, bruce wayne is a douchebag, the joker is wearing baggy cloth, everything in the show had been "pimped".

and then theres all the technology in general, i remember how amazing it was my mother had an cellphone, it was something i bragged about to all the other jealous kids, i remember the first time i ever saw one of those shiny round things we could use instead of a floppy disc, i remember when we first got "internet" oh boy that was amazing, my step dad showed the whole family the powers of this amazing thing and he showed us a movie of some animated dancing hamsters and we laughed and laughed...

christ im old.

Dude, the OS used to come on floppy discs. 5.5 as well, not this new fangled 3.25.

And 7 minutes to load a game.

Imagine when you can remember going to see the original Star Wars back in '77 :)
