So, the beta has been online for several hours now. And i have managed to put in a few hours of gametime into it. Has anybody else? What do you think of it?

My thoughts: After some initial frustration i am now enjoying it quite a bit. That down to me though, having to change the way i played from "halo style" to "rainbow six style". It also helped once i had a few points to build a decent gun as well.

Now it DOES play a little quicker than past GR games but it is still quite tactical. One or two bullets is enough to kill you, so carefully creeping through the multiplayer is a must. Now the game could have asily turned into a camp-fest but it manages to (mostly) avoid this by having the objectives score A LOT higher than i kill. The objectives change every few minutes or so and will usually be attacking/ defending something or fighting over a common interest.

The cover system works well and is lifted from splinter cell conviction. No complaints here.

There are 3 classes unlocked so far: Recon (sniper), Engineer (CQC) and Assault. Each one of course gets their own equipment to play with and more becomes unlocked as you level up.

The "optical camoflage" for the recon is fairly balanced luckily, activating only if you stand completely still. And even then it "shimmers" like in halo, making you not entirely invisible.

Enemies are "marked" automatically once you see them, letting others know where they are and has a battlefield-like spawn system where you can spawn ontop of team mates.

The guns are highly customisable, with each one breaking down into about 10 componants. for every level you get 1 unlock point to spend on a new part for your gun of choice.

"data hacking" enemies is very useful because it marks all the enemy team for a good ten seconds. This is done by using the tazer on them and then standing new them for a while. Dont forget to kill them afterwards! They get back up!

Problems: There are some problems though, which i hope will be fixed:

- Spawns: There is only ONE area for each team to spawn, which means a team can quite easily "lock down" the map and begin spawn killing. Not cool.

- Grenades: Travel too far and are very powerful. Already players have worked out how to angle them across the map. at least you only get one grenade though...

-weird glitches: Visual glitches where sometimes the textures won't load properly. There was one instance where i couldnt spawn with a gun for the entire game.

TLDR: The game is good :) But a few problems which i hope will be fixed. Any questions i will try to answer!

Might as well try the demo out.

I wonder... does the game itself include split screen?
I believe it does. I (think) its up to four on campaign and the survival mode.

Well I'm downloading as I type...So I hopefully it won't be that bad; it might even tempt a purchase out of me.

I'll save this thread. I quite like it I've only played like 20 minutes, I'm shit at it but I like it. My favourite feature is the ability to look at cover and hold 'A' then your guy sprints to it, that's awesome. I don't think that was a feature in GRAW or GRAW 2. I think the guns feel stronger than they did in GRAW & GRAW 2. Also it's got awesome graphics.

I only played 20 minutes because I kept getting disconnected from the server and my game kept migrating host in the middle of firefights I was winning.

usually when I post in a thread it dies, it won't this time I promise

I'm terrible at objective based combat unless it's capture the flag, I couldn't find the objectives. *facepalm*

Oh.... Ok im not THAT bad! XD

The game does have a "guide line" that leads you to the objective, like in dead space. Just turn it on with the right button/bumper.

That will help thanks. I think I'm going to play a shit load of games tomorrow and improve my skills, practice makes perfect. I've got plenty of room for improvement.

Is this a free demo anyone can join, or do you have to apply for beta keys or invites or something, cause I wouldn't mind giving it a punt. Free stuff's awesome!

Unfortunatly no, its a closed beta. You have to either preorder the game or still have the splinter cell conviction game to get it.

Is this for consoles? Cause I have splinter cell conviction downloaded to my hard drive.

Pants. Oh well, worth a try. It actually sounds nice and tactical, without sacrificing gameplay for reality (since it has invisibility cloaks and stuff) Sounds like a cross between Battlefield and Rainbow 6, so I might wait till it comes out and check it out then. Thanks.

And just like that, any enthusiasm is gone.
Why the system works great. It doesn't put you at the extreme edge of cover, it works really really well.

OT: Game is AMAZING.

Are you talking about the XBL beta?

Because I remember getting a beta code for the game from when Conviction came out, but I just assumed they said "fuck that"

Easy there. He was just talking about the cover system. Conviction actually had a pretty good cover system.

It was nearly everything else that was crap.

It is. Go to the main menu and press the button labeled "marketplace".

The game is pretty cool. I only played 2 matches today, but they were damn fun. I love all the COD kiddies running around the maps like chickens with their heads cut off, shooting them is like shooting fish in a barrel.

The only thing I don't like so far are the iron sights. All the American weapons I've used so far have had absolutely awful iron sights. They're way too big, too fat, and too intrusive, and they cover up your field of view way too much (is that enough "toos" for you?). I try to avoid the American weapons as much as possible and pick up Russian ones wherever I can. The AK-200 is amazing.

I'm kind of annoyed that I can't find the option to change my sensitivity though. You'd think they'd have that option in the beta, it's kind of an important one.

I've been playing the game for a little bit now. And i love it, its buggy and it kicks you often which is frustrating but its the first day of a beta build, i'm sure they'll sort it out as times goes on, and i'm sure the actual game will be much better.

I like the power and feel of the weapons, the smoothness of the animations, the cover system works well and the general mechanics are all a hit in my books!!

I like the look of it all look forward to the main release!!
