So, the beta has been online for several hours now. And i have managed to put in a few hours of gametime into it. Has anybody else? What do you think of it?
My thoughts: After some initial frustration i am now enjoying it quite a bit. That down to me though, having to change the way i played from "halo style" to "rainbow six style". It also helped once i had a few points to build a decent gun as well.
Now it DOES play a little quicker than past GR games but it is still quite tactical. One or two bullets is enough to kill you, so carefully creeping through the multiplayer is a must. Now the game could have asily turned into a camp-fest but it manages to (mostly) avoid this by having the objectives score A LOT higher than i kill. The objectives change every few minutes or so and will usually be attacking/ defending something or fighting over a common interest.
The cover system works well and is lifted from splinter cell conviction. No complaints here.
There are 3 classes unlocked so far: Recon (sniper), Engineer (CQC) and Assault. Each one of course gets their own equipment to play with and more becomes unlocked as you level up.
The "optical camoflage" for the recon is fairly balanced luckily, activating only if you stand completely still. And even then it "shimmers" like in halo, making you not entirely invisible.
Enemies are "marked" automatically once you see them, letting others know where they are and has a battlefield-like spawn system where you can spawn ontop of team mates.
The guns are highly customisable, with each one breaking down into about 10 componants. for every level you get 1 unlock point to spend on a new part for your gun of choice.
"data hacking" enemies is very useful because it marks all the enemy team for a good ten seconds. This is done by using the tazer on them and then standing new them for a while. Dont forget to kill them afterwards! They get back up!
Problems: There are some problems though, which i hope will be fixed:
- Spawns: There is only ONE area for each team to spawn, which means a team can quite easily "lock down" the map and begin spawn killing. Not cool.
- Grenades: Travel too far and are very powerful. Already players have worked out how to angle them across the map. at least you only get one grenade though...
-weird glitches: Visual glitches where sometimes the textures won't load properly. There was one instance where i couldnt spawn with a gun for the entire game.
TLDR: The game is good
But a few problems which i hope will be fixed. Any questions i will try to answer!
