I've been playing the game for a little bit now. And i love it, its buggy and it kicks you often which is frustrating but its the first day of a beta build, i'm sure they'll sort it out as times goes on, and i'm sure the actual game will be much better.

I like the power and feel of the weapons, the smoothness of the animations, the cover system works well and the general mechanics are all a hit in my books!!

I like the look of it all look forward to the main release!!
Yup, hope the campaign is awesome too :)

Like I said, I've only played 2 matches so far, so I don't have any attachments unlocked yet. Can't put on a red dot sight you don't have.

Is this a free demo anyone can join, or do you have to apply for beta keys or invites or something, cause I wouldn't mind giving it a punt. Free stuff's awesome!
Unfortunatly no, its a closed beta. You have to either preorder the game or still have the splinter cell conviction game to get it.
You sure? I haven't done either of those yet Ubisoft randomly sent me a Beta code. Glad they did too, haven't played much of it since the servers were annoying but what I've played I've liked. Only complaints I have are the dodgy servers and the lack of any real way to check out the controls, it does it during the loading but it loads too quickly to get them all.

Yup, thats the only ways i have heard. I know some have randomly been sent beta codes as well, so maybe there is another way :p

Yeah the controls being only on loading was annoying. But it shows each button as you press them, which makes it a bit quicker.

So far I've really enjoyed the beta. It's nice on the eyes, the gameplay is smooth and "seems" (from what I've played) very balanced. There are a couple of annoyances though...

1)Host Migration is a joke, DO NOT MAKE ME respawn, I didn't die, don't do it.

2)Pistols are a joke, unless your enemy is really hurt it's useless. (A whole clip to kill someone, wut?)

3)Snipers, are annoying at point blank range. They literally 1 shot you, it's annoying and unfair. (The camo is fair enough no problems there.)

So far Ubisoft has my money

I should be in this. It was a bonus for Pre-ordering Conviction. Already registered too. No word yet though. Don't know if I should watch my inbox or contact support.

I know it's in Beta.... but damn. I just can't see the game working.

The gunplay is pretty solid. The customization is pretty cool, with a system that really nailed down the whole "my gun" aspect.

The marking system in this game just plain doesn't work. Your health is way to low for it to work, and it's not exactly hard to get on target. I can't tell you the amount of times someone's had their gun pointed to exactly where I was gonna poke out my head. I'd be fine with it being taken completely out of the game.

Grenades are crazy overpowered. Add at least a three second longer fuse, and shorten the radius. It's nearly a guaranteed death, because there's no way to jump out of cover. And once you are out of cover, you're completely exposed.

C'mon with the objective points. It takes a good 15 seconds of you being completely vulnerable to arm the bomb, and combined with the grenades, it's pretty much a guaranteed death if you try to play the objective. It's just gonna turn into Team Deathmatch.

I've been saying this since Bad Company 2. Do not have a game that forces you to rely on Team Work to win. Because you're gonna find three stupid team mates for every competent one.

Yeah, I realize it's a third person shooter with a cover system and there's really no avoiding it, but I'm certainly not fond of the people in cover who end up shooting you because their character model is completely hidden, yet their camera has a 120 degree view of everything in front of him.

Also... I can't tell if it's just from the game being a little buggy, or if this is an actual mechanic, but I feel like there are some walls you can shoot through. Also something that I'm not sure was just a bug, but is there body armor in this game? If there is, fuck that.

Overall; the game plays decent enough, but... the whole system is just ridiculous. I feel like it would play a lot smoother with only 4 on 4 matches.

You didn't even have to pre-order it. I got in the beta with a used copy of the game.

If you're on the Xbox, you have to put in the game, than after a few seconds the press X for 'xbox live marketplace' will pop up.

Awesome thing about that, the loading screen shows you what button does what if you press them during while it's loading.

So if you're like "what's RB do?", press RB and it'll pop up in the loading menu. It was pretty nifty.

I can see how it can be annoying if your team is bad at the game, because the enemy team can basically have you marked all game and there's nothing you can do about it. So far I really haven't had a problem with it though, and even when I've been marked I made it very difficult for the enemy team to kill me so I haven't minded it so far. It also really helps to cut down on camping, which I appreciate.

You only get one grenade, and I haven't even managed to be killed by one yet (well, actually I have but it was my own nade), and I've managed to put the grenade right under someone's feet only to have them survive.

This isn't the only game mode that will be in the final game. I'm sure there will be some TDM and FFA game types for you nonobjective playing people.

Not sure about shooting through walls, but yes, there is body armor in the game, but only for certain classes (I'm pretty sure the rifleman is the only one that has it of the 3 starting classes), and it only protects the chest area, and doesn't take much more damage to kill them. Don't see much wrong with it.

Frag grenades are annoying, they can travel too far and there's not enough time to react to one landing nearby.

Flashbangs are bullshit, they completely blind you for a good 5-6 seconds. That's FAR too long in a game where 1-2 hit kills are the norm.

Arming objectives takes too long too. I know it's to force team work, but a single grenade can wipe out and entire squad, making playing the objectives become more of a detriment than being helpful.

Those are really my only 2 problems. The guns feel great, the speed doesn't harm the tactical movement at all. I really like the equipment and the guiding line. And the cloak is great too, not overpowered as you're still very visible, but not usless if you stay still.

There's also an annoying glitch where people can fire in any direction while climbing over a wall, making wall hopping an advantage over taking cover.

I'm gonna probably be saying this a lot throughout my post, but it's less to do with the system itself being broken, and more along the lines of it doesn't work with the way the game plays. I think combined with the rather large teams and minimal health, it just doesn't flow well with the game.
You only get one grenade, and I haven't even managed to be killed by one yet (well, actually I have but it was my own nade), and I've managed to put the grenade right under someone's feet only to have them survive.
I probably should have clarified that this was when combined with the single objective points throughout the maps. If you're being pinned and the guy has a grenade, there's really no way out of it. There's rarely enough time to get away from the grenade without taking a bit of damage, and it forces you out of cover. In a game where health is as low as it is, it's a little bit crazy.

So how is that different from every objective based game ever?
The grenades mostly. Though it might have a little bit to do with the fact that I was mostly with really bad team mates who tended to be on the other side of the map while I single handedly armed the objective. Combined with the long time it takes, and that it also shows the opposing team that you're arming it, it's just a little ridiculous. When most games have you completely vulnerable when arming an objective, it generally only takes about five or so seconds, like in Battlefield or Call of Duty. For fast paced games like those, and even this, it should be quick. Enough time so you can't do it right in front of the enemies face, but slow enough so that they can defend it.

This isn't the only game mode that will be in the final game. I'm sure there will be some TDM and FFA game types for you nonobjective playing people.
Hey, I love the objective based games. It's just the people who play them and don't care about I have a problem with.

That's exactly what the marking system helps you avoid.
True... but I still think they could make going up from prone to shoot a little longer to avoid that type of situation.
Not sure about shooting through walls, but yes, there is body armor in the game, but only for certain classes (I'm pretty sure the rifleman is the only one that has it of the 3 starting classes), and it only protects the chest area, and doesn't take much more damage to kill them. I'm just not very fond of low health based games having an armor system. When I encountered it, it really seemed like it would block the bullets indefinitely, and the only way to kill them was with a head or limb shot.

The problem with this game isn't the combat system, it's the map designed coordinated with teamwork and objective locations. MOST OF THE OBJECTIVES ARE PUT IN SPOTS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY GOING TO GIVE ONE SIDE A HUUUUGE ADVANTAGE. I've already played 3 rounds where my team either didn't have a chance in hell unless we spawn camped or were obviously better players, or we yawned as we could walk a short distance each time to get to the objective compared to our enemies who need to use team mates to spawn in.

This wouldn't be a problem if the maps were bigger and there were more players, but as it is it's very easy to flank and completely stop enemies pushing onto your side of the map. Why? Because we can see through the god dang walls to view all enemy locations. Aren't camra's great? And a bit OP.

Some valid points. :) As i said, the grenades are way overpowered.

I never have any problems with the objectives, maybe its because i have had pretty good teams so far. The counter goes down faster the more people stand near you, so that helps. It forces some teamwork i guess.

The body armor doesn't add much health, maybe survive one or two more bullets. The assault class needs SOME kind of advantage, since others get invisability etc.

So i tried it out... well i downloaded it atleast but ubisofts servers are apparently so shit that i could not get into a match even after a 10 minute loading screen.

Yeah that happened to me today, just left it for a bit and then it was fine later.
