Trin heard Foxtrot and replied. Roger that Foxtrot, the hawks have landed, moving to nest. Over
Trin then silenced the radio and started hiking. Alright gents, there's a hill about 5k's up this path. We're gonna have a good advantage point, and we might be able to spot our target. Let's get moving everyone! Double time!
Oblivious to the commotion currently happening at the drop points, Damien proceeded up the river. The motor made a quiet humming noise as it propelled the raft upstream. Damien kept his hand curled around his pistol, eyes scanning the treeline for any movement.
After 1.5 k, he steered the raft to the shore and let it deflate silently. Stowing the raft and the motor in a bush, he grabbed his rucksack and slung it over his shoulder.
After about half an hour's walking, he heard movement up ahead. Crouching low, he carefully peered round a tree, to see an armed soldier, apparently patrolling the area. Carefully drawing his pistol, he lined it up, made sure there was no-one else around, and squeezed off a shot. There was a low grunt, followed by a thud.
Damien made his way cautiously to the body. Examining the rebel's weapon. (A worn M4 Carbine), he shook his head and threw it into the nearby bushes. Searching the body, he found nothing except a small hipflask (which he pocketed) and extra ammo for the gun. Dragging the body into a dense clump of bushes to hide it, he continued onwards.
After walking for another 10 minutes, some buildings came into view. Damien crouched low and pulled out his binoculars. The village was situated in a dip in the ground, meaning Damien had a good viewpoint.
The village was not in good shape. Many of the houses were starting to crumble, and foliage had started to reclaim them. Through the binoculars, Damien could make out a few guards standing around the perimeter, also armed with carbines. He could also see several others walking around, talking, all looking nervous and scared. There was no laughter.
One building stood out. It was larger than the others, and in better shape. Damien could see two men standing guard outside the door. "that must be where Winston is holed up" he thought.
Picking out his radio, he retreated a few metres out of sight before radioing in.
"Foxtrot and Indigo, do you copy?"
Sorry for the long post guys. I'm just trying to catch up.
"Copy, Recon, what's up?" whispered Vase as he held back from the rest, holding his hand up to signal a stop, "keep it short, we have no idea who's nearby."
"Guards surrounding the village, and more inside. I can see maybe 15-20. but there may be more in the buildings", whispered Damien hurriedly. "Think Winston is inside largest building, but it's guarded. Men unarmoured, but have rifles, and maybe other weapons. Suggest course of action?"
"Hmm, hold off till Foxtrot and Indigo get there, then we'll get a plan sorted, for now, fall back to a safe spot and keep an eye out," whispers Vase, "right we'll move up now, reccie is completed for now."
Trin and the rest of Indigo walked fast up the hill. Roger that, keep out of sight, Foxtrot will meet with you about half a click north of your current location.
Trin said, scanning his computer. Foxtrot, come in Foxtrot, this is Indigo, Foxtrot come in
I've managed to hack into a satellite orbiting over Madagascar. Indigo will take point on a nearby hill overlooking their camp. There is also another hill north of our position, its accessible by Foxtrot, its west of your position, about 1.5k's. And tell Vase not to worry, this is the secure channel. Only way for them to listen to us is if they'd hack into our security network grid. There's no way they'd be able to do that.
Trin said with a grin.
Will you be moving to Hill position, or infiltrating the camp? Indigo Over.
Trin then caught up with the others, and they were at the top of the hill overlooking the camp below them.
Ok, everyone stay down, they might have snipers. Someone scan the camp and look for them, let´s give Foxtrot some help eh?
"I say we go in," grunted Vase, "you lot?"
Turning back to the radio, it was Jason that demanded silence, not me Trin. I don't worry about it too much, he laughed quietly.
"I agree, if they can give us support from that hill-top, we can get in and out easier. But we need to keep radio silence, they might not be able to break the encryption but they'll be able to pinpoint our position with ease."
Jason rose from his crouch and began to move forward.
"Lets get into position and see what Indigo can cook up for us."
Joshua stepped up "Foxtrot, I'm going to set up on the hill overlooking the camp and relay information. I can also provide sniper cover."
Joshua ran up to the hill and covered himself in his cloak. He set his gun up and felt the hammer slide in the chamber. His scope found a man with a rifle covered over one of the shacks around the building. "How ya doing buddy," Joshua whispered, "This is Indigo 3 I have a sniper in my sights, recommended course of action?"
"Wait for the explosion Indigo 3," responded Vase, "then he's all yours." Vase cocked his AK and made sure he had a grenade in the launcher before nodding to the others.
The man in Joshua's scope, turned towards the blast, and Joshua squeezed the trigger watching the man's head explode into a cloud of red mist, he then focused on the next rifle, and shot him down too, feeling the kick against his shoulder
"Alright fellows, I guess it's time to start things up."
He strolled down the hill.
One revolver was unholstered. Two rebels were made aware of his presence. Two shots were fired. Two holes were made in two heads. Two bodies fell over limp. One man continued smiling his soft, unsettling smirk.
The rebels had finally figured out the general direction in which the 20mm shells were coming from Joshua fell back as two round hit right in front of his face. He wiped the dirt from his eyes and focused on the last sniper, and slowly squeezed the trigger ending the sniper's life. He then packed up and retreated down the hill picking up a dead rebel's AK-47, "This is Indigo 3, all sniper threats are down, I'm joining the fight."
"Good to have you in, Josh. Josh, Eric, Trin: Let's try to group up. Team assault, all four of us can support Foxtrot. The more of us, the less of them. The less of them, the less time it takes to bring down the Nine of Diamonds. Whaddya say, guys?"
