I see a lot of stuff surfacing about the Ghost Busters game and to be honest I'm not convinced. The few game play feedbacks I hear are positive however they are all from small sections of the games and I just... hmmm...

I just can't shake the feeling that this will be just another movie tie in game that gets iffy after an hours play.

So escapists, what have you got to offer to make me feel better about this?

It will be another movie tie in a game.

The only good Film to Game was Chronicles of Riddick. And not just in the category "rides on the movie wagon", but it's one of the best damn games I've ever played.

The rest of them? Gah. Almost as bad as Bloodrayne's Game to Movie convertion.

Yeah I hate how those companies keep releasing games along with movies just to feed off the hype of them being newly released... wait... WHEN did Ghostbusters come out?

Its not a movie tie in game. It might be bad, but I refuse to buy into that. Ghostbusters is old, and its not fresh in anyones mind. The only people who would buy this game solely based on the license must be fucking hardcore as Ghostbusters is probably my favourite movie of all time. I grew up with it as a kid and have such amazingly fond memories of it (in the same way gamers who grew up with nintendo gush over zelda or chrono trigger :p) and I won't even buy this game.

Also, the Ghostbusters game for the Sega Genesis really was quite enjoyable, and more leaning towards the 'movie tie-in' side. I loved it actually and rented it a couple times and got to the very end, it wasn't a bad game at all.

I don't have high hopes for it but then again ghostbusters never really stood out as a good movie to me anyway i have no love for the IP and I doubt the gameplay will be fresh enought to warrent playing from a non fan

What's the worry? You haven't paid a penny for it thus far and you can just rent it when it comes out. Don't sweat it -- if it sucks, no one will make you play it!

Any excuse to hear Dan Akroyds voice. He is a legend. I do hope that this game does the franchise justice, and since it isn't exactly a movie tie in, it doesn't follow the same rules for shittyness.

Gameplay previews are always positive. I remain thoroughly unimpressed by what I've seen and sense another distinctly average movie companion game.

I still hold hopes for this game, and really hope they go for some humour in it. I say, wait until it comes out, and some solid reviews are made before you consider buying it though, movie games generally tend to blow, spare a few (goldeneye cough cough)

In my opinion it is unfair to call that game a movie tie in. It was a project Vin Diesel produced himself (apparently he plays video games) and genuinely wanted to make something of. The "movie tie in" genera is basically something produced with shiney colours that attempts to cash in on a block-buster movie release (Transformers).

The ghostbuster's symbol is one of the most recognizable symbols out there. Nearly everyone, seeing the ghostbuster symbol, can correctly identify the symbol, and that goes accros all generations. The engine for this game was in development, and the eventual publisher, knowing the above fact, said "how about a ghostbusters game"

and who can say no to a current gen ghostbusters game? I mean, PROTON PACKS.

Proton packs.

Do not confuse "movie tie in games" with movie merchandise. That is all most movie games are, merchandise.

To me, this looks like a real attempt to make the difinitive ghostbusters game. donno if you played that on the NES, but that game was teh sux. i played it a lot and never could figure out how to beat it.

I still have fond memories of the Ghostbusters game on the C64:)
Also, I heard something about the game having a story considered for the never-made third movie. Could be good.

I, for one, am very optimistic. The game looks fantastic and all the gameplay videos I have seen also look like a ton of fun. Granted, I am older than 20 and loved the IP as a kid. I am also excited about the involvement of Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd having penned the script and the original voice cast coming back (except for Sigourney Weaver but who cares; she has not been relevant for years). This game has the makings to be fantastic. Of course it could suck, but I don't think you can write it off as a movie cash in because there has not been a Ghostbusters movie released since 1989 and I think 20 years after the fact is okay to say its not a movie tie in.

It's not a movie tie in. This is actually the script for ghostbusters 3. It was made into a game rather then a movie. Why i have no idea. Age i would guess. But VO work is all the original cast and whatnot.

Well, I agree. But:

- It was released after another movie.
- Has character voices FROM the movie.
- Relates to them.

So even if it's not based on one movie and it's not called "Riddick The Game", it still kinda counts as a movie to a game.

Not quite all, near as I can tell. In the transition, the lost Rick Moranis, Sigourney Weaver and Dickless.
...Is Dickless an actual persons last name, or did that third person do something horrible to wrong you?

If the former...*giggles like an immature tween*

If the latter...whose Dickless?

Ghost Busters misses the typical movie tie in hype crapfest by about 20 years (see Ghost Busters on the NES, or better watch AVGN's take on it.) It was made as a videogame so they could maintain complete creative control I believe- also they're the medium of the future. Wazoo!

Man so far it looks decent. Maybe not blow your ass out your ears great, but good enough to pay money for.

I presume this is a reference to William Atherton's character (Walter Peck was the name, if I recall correctly) who shuts off the Ghostbusters' containment grid.

I'm never "sold" on a game until it comes out so it can be properly appraised by the community. Unless it's made by either BioWare or Bethesda, then I know that I'll like it before I hear anything else about it.....

The game sounds interesting enough to warrant my attention, and I plan to keep abreast on any news about it is released. It seemed a little cooler in the abstract... but I'm still entirely open to the idea of it being a good game, which is a lot more than I can say about the majority of titles coming out soon.

And I'm not a big Ghostbusters buff myself... I only saw the film a few years ago, but I did like it. I like the idea of a game not about guns or even really combat per se and a different kind of conflict resolution... If it's just a more mature and complex Luigi's Mansion I'd probably be satisfied.
