Didn't the Japanese already do a life-size robot? I think it was a Gundam [http://www.geekologie.com/2009/06/japan_completes_lifesized_gund.php]...

Don't you get it? They're building an army of robots, disguised as statues based on anime to keep the truth under wraps. Once they finally build the Gurren Lagann, they will take over the world.

So, after this is nearly done, what do you think the third robot they will start building is? My money is one something a bit more... unknown, just so everyone goes "Why?" Perhaps the golden robot/mech... thing from "Kannazuki no Miko."

Yeah, that would be awesome... if you haven't seen the anime. If you have, it'll still be awesome, it'll just also be a tad awkward (off-screen Yuri Rape is involved in making it awkward).

This is awesome but I must echo the question of many people:
Why?

But no matter, at least the Japanese spend their money on important stuff
.
The US needs to build a giant statue of Liberty Prime.
All US citizens! Call you senator/congressman and ask them to earmark some money for a life size statue of Liberty Prime!

That's measured in lightyears, by the way, and it can throw galaxies.

Edit: Image doesn't seem to work. Damn Photobucket.

So, would you say that Gigantor goes gigantic?

Seriously, someone had to say it.

Overcompensating me thinks.

Well, at least we'll be safe from the inevitable alien invasion, or possibly Cthulhu. Wait, nothing beats Cthulhu... We're doomed!!!

And it needs to speak Prime's lines as well. Also we should get cracking on making some giant robot cylon models too.

Am I the only one who thought this would be about Gigantor [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/Gigantor] becoming famous?

The SDF-1 MACROSS is, as the name implies, originally of the Macross Japanese franchise and was mutilated and sewn together with other random anime series upon its "release" in America as Robotech. This occurred because when it was brought over, a series need to be at least 63 or so episodes long to be shown on TV.

And "A random person" judging from your discription, no picture is needed... Tengen Toppa Gurren Langann Giga Drill Breaker ftw!!

Most people think Transformers was created in America, but no it's Japanese. Like pretty much anything involving mecha.

I mean, it's hard to find ANY mecha from outside japan. Transformers, Japanese. Power Rangers, Japanese. Maybe straight up robots like johnny 5 or WALL-E, but no human like mecha.

I honestly did not know that. Is the original better? Cause I have always liked Robotech...

Yes the original is far better. Especially because it is meant to have continuity with the rest of Macross.( Macross 7, Macross plus, macross Zero, Macross Frontier)
