Danny if your saying that living In Glasgow I may need to kill you... Edinburgh is a pain in the arse for gigs, we don't have the good medium venues that some of my favourite bands would need, and there doesn't seem to be any very active gig goers - tis wierd. Anyway, gig experiences -
Those I have made it to have almost all been brilliant so I'll list a few great one's -
Dirty Pretty Things - the actually talented Carl Baret from the libertines, unlike his junky friend, they came on 45 minutes late, but absolutely rocked the whole place, I think at least 600 people all going mental and charging towards the stage, my first gig and still the one with the most manic and energetic atmosphere.
Razorlight supported by the editors - don't care what people say, Razorlight are, or at least were before their 3rd album bloody good, hate Jonny Borrell with a passion, but Golden Touch, Somewhere else and Stumble and Fall played to a massive stadium pitch full of fans who knew all of the words, its really something to have thousands of people singing along perfectly word to word to Golden Touch!
I've been to a fair few others but those 2 were the standouts, only other bands I would really want to see at the moment are Gogol Bordello, K'naan, and Great Big Sea, look them up on youtube, as they are a great selection of Gypsy Punk, Somalian meaningful rap, and a Newfoundland Folk Rock band ^^
Oh, and hopefully in the future I'll be able to add Leeds Festival this summer to the list of awesome gigs
