It's not just the escapist. When is the last time you saw a story about someone being killed, and it genuinely shocked you? Or when is the last time you actually thought about how much people suffer in third world countries. Or war torn countries. I don't get becoming desensitised to human suffering but still crying about a bunch of puppies drowning.

Don't get me wrong. I'm no bleeding heart. The world is a fucked up place. I just accept this and get on with my daily life. But this should apply to everything. Not just humans. Just because it's cute and whelps as it's being thrown. It shouldn't really spark any more sympathy in use than that advert of whatever his name is dying of diarrhoea in Africa.

Do you not see the hypocrisy?
Actually, call me a pussy but I have a real issue with still being shocked by news of cruelty. Fuck, I get shocked by certain violent movies and TV series like CSI (not in general, but few episodes), when the realisation strikes me that in a world this big and violent, the same shit, if not worse, has probably happened somewhere. I start thinking about how/why the murderer or the victim would think/feel and it's a proper mindfuck experience.

I've recently heard about a gang of kids chasing down and stabbing a boy to death in the middle of the fucking day in London. I've spent 3 days constantly thinking about it, feeling at moments what it would be like to be a kid running for his life with no one giving a shit to help.

I've also heard the news of another gang of kids force feeding another kid gasolene and lighting him on fire. It still makes me literally sick to even have the thought pass through my head.

It also greatly bothers me that certain people get obscene, unnecessary (literally so, not excessive, unnecessary) amounts of money while there are people and countries that could use those funds much more. I've given it a decent amount of thought and even posted it somewhere around here on the Escapist in one of the threads.

I can give you more examples if you're really inclined. I'm not desensitized, at least not yet, so yes, this shit bothers me to a point (which is not to say I'm obsessed by it or can't think about anything else, just that focusing on that thought/news bothers me). I can still spare a few minutes of my time to be disgusted by a ***** who enjoys hurling puppies into a river and be further disgusted and disappointed we speak the same language. But that's just me.

You know what pisses me off though. Peoples overreactions.

Yes this is horrible and the woman is clearly disturbed. But I hate how people on the internet (and the escapist especially) treat animals as if they're worth more than humans.

You lot see a video like this and start acting as if this is the worst crime imaginable. Hundreds of people murder other humans everyday. But one mentally deficient individual throws a load of puppies in a river and it's 'Hunt the ***** down and burn her!'
Overreactions!!! You think it's overreacting to want justice for a girl that is throwing a live being in the river to drown. Animals feel, they are not just bags of bones, dogs especially, see for the blind, hear for the deaf, sniff out bombs so human beings don't get hurt, they do search and rescue, and just having them around makes a lot of people happier. People who have pets live longer then people without pets.

If a human being throws another human being in the water the book is thrown at them. Murder of an innocent human beings means life in prison or death. Death of an animal means very little time if any and maybe a fine. So your little spiel about people not caring about the death of a person is ridiculous. Someone has to look out for the helpless, animals lovers are sick of people just getting a slap on the wrist. Every single day all over the world animal are being abused, all day everyday and it's virtually ignored. People are getting sick of it and we want to see people getting prosecuted for these crimes.

Trust me people don't give animals a thought unless there is a video in front of them. I work in an animal shelter. We kill millions of them everyday in the US because of unwanted animals. Many many of them are abused,we see burns from fire, acid burns, mutilation, too many ways to abuse animals. People don't care so your wrong. They only see what is in front of their face.

And honestly I think the reason why people like you bring up the argument about human beings and continually arguing like you care about people and making sure the people that care about the animals have something wrong with them is because it's your round about way of saying you don't care that this girl drowned those puppies, so look inside and figure out why your capable of being so cold. People are capable of being horrified by this and also by human suffering the two are not mutually exclusive. I know they are for you because you have that problem, but the rest of us can feel for both humans and animals.

It's not hypocrisy. Nobody is saying murder or starving refugees are good things, they are simply so commonplace that they don't elicit the same shock. When somebody see's a puppy getting thrown in a river its shocking because you never see it happen.
That is hypocricy. Actively caring about one and not about the other because it's more common is hypocritical.

I never said people were ok with it. Simply indiferent to it.

Being indiferent to human suffering but caring about fluffy animals is just fucking retarded. It doesn't matter that one is more common than the other. The more common one is still far worse.

There is a high chance of her becoming a serial killer when she grows up unless she gets some good fucking mental help.

I had to say that since you are going "OMG, STUPID HUMANS, WORST STUFF LIKE THIS HAPPENS ALL TIME"
Bollocks. I don't buy that token knowledge one bit.

Because some serial killers started out killing animals doesn't mean that people who kill animals will end up being serial killers. It's a false conclusion.

The crazy ***** just might of really hated puppies.
Where did you get your degree? People may not always make the leap to killing of humans but they lack and empathy for suffering that does lead to a very disturbed individual. I don't trust anyone that can just say it's just and animal when they do or see something like this, I don't want them anywhere near me or anyone I care about. God help you!!

Once again reality outdoes even the darkest of fantasy.

The girl obviously has some mental problems to be capable of positively enjoying as play such cruelty. Hope she gets caught and a conviction saying she can never have/work with animals, and a prison/psych ward term as well. Who knows what such person could do next?

I have no clue what this anime is, thus I have no clue story wise of what's going on in the scene. All I know is that it's the greatest scene from any anime I've ever seen because it is an accurate depiction of what I'd like to do to this woman and to all the other ass holes out in the world like her who do stupid and abhorrent shit like her. Thank you good sir for posting this clip.

Okay...
The woman clearly has to get rid of the puppies... so instead of giving them away, she throws them in a lake, where they'll probably end up DROWNING, she throws the last ones as high as she can and as sloppily as she can, and she has some ass hat filming that?

Wow... This person... I'm just... Wow.

Disgusting action? Yes. One of the most disgusting thing ever? Not by a long shot. She'll probably need to pay some fine or face a few years of jail time (depending on local laws and I very much doubt that she's in USA, or judging by the fact that she have someone film her, maybe there's no animal cruelty law in her country). However many people seems to have forgot the fact that animals are not human. Even if today the girl in the video dumps a hundred puppies in that river, her crime would still be far less than if she had kill one person.

Just, no.

Okay, I accept sometimes these things happen and its better then a cruel life for puppies due to farm holds lifestyles, but for gods sake at least show the poor things some decency then throwing them into rapids like a fucking sicko.

I tried to get a good look at her face, screen cap it, and send it to the cops.

I watched 44 seconds of puppies getting thrown into the water in vain, and they were STILL ALIVE! Fuck, I just wanna smack a her right now!

Meh, she kinda fucked herself over by RECORDING it. It's only a matter of time until someone who knows the girl watches it, reports it to the authorities and she gets arrested for animal abuse. And that's if it is real.
