I sometimes think up good ideas for a thread, then I don't bother because of what Pimppeter2 did to my last one I made. (not picking on him, just saying what it is, after all he is one of my friends on here):p

If I've just finished typing a relatively long message, usually an argument in an intense battle, 5% of the time, I'll glance over everything I have written and go,
"No. I had better just stay away/shut up this time."
And not post it.

Either that, or I realize I might be too offensive. This site's really uptight about flaming.
You should have stopped when you decided to call the last few seasons of 24 worse than the first several, despite every single season being the exact same thing over and over again. So like, after the fifth time, it magically became unappealing to you. Huh.

I do sometimes.

Its only when I am halfway through writing a topic, and think, wow, I do not want to discuss this with people.

Dude you should have given up on that post.

Yep all the time, sometimes a couple of times a day. It tends to be me realizing that either I don't care as much as I thought I did or realizing that people won't really be interested in what I have to say on the given topic.

Well, it entirely depends on the thread itself and how fare it have gone.

Say, it's around 10 pages long. I can comment that I like huge bobs and no one would seem to notice. So, I generally just don't comment at that point.

And, threads like these, when I can be shown on page 1 (where most people read before they decide to comment on their own/leave) It's best to write something relevant, and not too offensive to deserve some lashes. Though you know you will gain attention, so why not comment?

And making good threads is a perk I do not have in stock. So I generally avoid that...

Sometimes, but that decision usually comes out of thinking of what people's initial reactions would be. Somekind of new hate for me, or being too similar to another thread.

Hello Escapist.

I was just about to finish a post about betrayal (and who in your family you would least suspect) when I lost interest and stopped. Have you aborted threads like this?

Do you do it often? Why do you usually abandon an idea?

[sub]I generally just get bored with the topic and I figure that if me, the OP is bored, the community will also be bored.[/sub]

Your turn.
I came into this thinking you were quitting the Forums. D: Don't scare me like that.
OP: If I do, it is usually a "Wow, this is a terrible topic" realization in the middle of it or during editing.

This mostly happens when I want to respond to a dumb statement/question, when I realise: "meh, I'll probably get a dumb reply to this..."

I thought this was a "I'm quitting" thread too. Thought you had just disproven the theory of lifecycles of the Escapist; we're not meant to be at that point for a few more months yet.

I bail out of half-finished replies all the time when I think that I'm just posting for the sake of posting or that I'm not expressing myself clearly.

I rarely bail out of topics though, mine fail within a page or two and I'm happy with that. Then I have given some discussion back at least.

I usually abandon posts when I notice it will just be a huge wall of text, and I know I can't be bothered to read those.

And I abandon threads/replys that turn into flamewars, arguing on the internets really doesn't go anywhere.

Hello Redlin. Five. High five!

I haven't done threads in over a year, but I do get plenty of ideas for them. Just never get around to making one. And when a thread that even marginally relates to my idea comes around, I think about onions, so I'm not there to post or wonder how someone had remotely the same idea.

Just last night I was writing a respond to a post on a touchy topic. The post I was adding to seemed quite intelligent at first, but after about half an hour of writing a response to it, adding information to make it more comprehensive, fixing the small errors, learning and checking the facts about the details of the given subject, double-checking word definitions and translating words (because I'm fucking terrible at English), and all that... It wasn't until then, when I realized that I couldn't perfect it, and the post that I was responding to, was actually terrible and biased in the first place.

So yeah, a hefty amount of posts I'm about to make, do get the 'close page with a swift mouse gesture (thanks Opera)' -treatment. Usually it's rather the overkill-ones at that, which would actually have something to add to the table, rather than the shorter, snarky ones. But it depends on the topic and everything else.

I also had some kind of a point to say originally, but I lost it.

I've done it a few times. I've realised the thread is actually pointless and stupid, so I back out of it while I still can.

Yeah, I sometimes stumble upon a thread where I'm about to write a reply and try to educate people on the matter, but then I think "It's just dumb people on the internet, nothing I can do about it". :\

Edit: Had I of known just how poor the escapists reading comprehension levels were I would have avoided making a thread here at all.
You know it was really obvious to me that the problem was with everyone else as well. You being the common denominator in this is obviously just an illusion. You have nothing at all to do with people missing the point you where trying to make.

Sarcasm aside, you are the common point here. A few people missing the point, sure I can buy that with something that is otherwise concise, however enough people missing the point you where trying to make for you to say everyone is and I don't think you can really just lay the blame on everyone else anymore. You should probably take another look at what you wrote and try to think of it from the perspective of someone that isn't you.

OT: I have made a grand total of eight or so threads since I joined. I am not big on making threads period. The few I have made probably had less replies total then this one will get, but I am okay with that.

Not threads as much as general replies.

More often than not I'll be typing a response and suddenly think "Who's going to care? This has already been stated a number of times in the thread" then I usually delete everything.

I should try and just post anyway, who knows what response I might get.

As a side note the only thread I ever made was terrible as the OP was filled with contradiction and hypocrisy.
