OT: I can pull off the glasses/no-glasses look anytime, anywhere, and with anyone! /challengeaccepted

With that said, I was told by my eye doctor that I must wear my glasses more often... which is fine by me, since I can't drive (properly) without them, anyway...

I actually suit both looks, however contact lenses are fiddly and awkward so I wear glasses all the time. Sure keeping them clean and smudge-free is a pain but poking yourself in the eye when you're half asleep is even more painful. Also glasses aren't just utilitarian. If you want they can be a fashionable accessory too.

People generally look weird going from no glasses to glasses, or vice versa, but after a while they just kinda... blend in i guess, and then they just become part of someone's face. There are some people that look a lot nicer wearing glasses, and then there are some people that don't. But as someone who has never needed to wear them, and has only ever worn sunglasses, I can guess that they must get pretty annoying having to constantly make sure that they dont fall off your head or fog up when it is too warm.

Many have already said it but I'll say it again because I'm basically a trained bird; It depends on the person and the style of glasses. There is little hope for me but a smaller, more modern style looked better on me then the bigger and/or fashionable types (like aviators).

I used to have glasses back in the day (you can see them in my profile pic if you're curious for some reason) but I just recently got LASIK eye surgery in August of 2013.

Best
Decision
EVER

Now I can't really comment about the looks part (though I do believe I look better with glasses for I have a lazy eye and it was covered by the glasses) but removing the glasses from my life has made life far far better. If you are young enough to really enjoy it (pre-50 age), I would strongly recommend that you check it out.
Just out of curiosity, did you ever suffer from dry eyes or itchy eyes afterwards? I've been thinking of getting LASIK myself until I heard about some who had some terrible issues with that afterwards.

OT: Personally I think I look better without glasses and I have had a few comments on that every now and then when I decide to take them off for a few hours (I prefer that when I am reading at times), but I guess there are those who just look better with glasses. However in many cases it's not about looking better with glasses, but looking weird (or good) because it's different. However I usually wear glasses and most of my newest friends have rarely seen me without and I get comments that I look better without them. So I probably don't look better with glasses.

About glasses on other people: depends on the glasses and the person. Aesthetics are not that simple in my book.
Personally: I have both glasses and contact lenses (soft, monthly use). I use what I think is more practical or looks better for me.

A normal side-effect of LASIK is dry/itchy eyes. Basically it takes time for the tear duct thing to start working properly but it should fix itself after a time. My sister had regular LASIK and it took her four or five months for it to stop bothering her. I had PRK and it took about three or four months for it to stop drying out. It's not painful dry or anything; just mildly annoying (and more so for us since we had ours done just before winter in Minnesota so the air becomes extremely dry here).

Thank you for your input, I appreciate hearing about your experience on this. I will look into it in a couple years when I can be sure that my vision has stabilized and when I don't spend as much time in labs.

As someone who has terrible eyes, I love wearing contact lenses. and am only wearing glasses at the moment because my prescription has run out.

If you play sport, contacts are less interfering in general and feel way better than glasses.

Also I have a sweet pair of Ray Bans so fuck yeah@!

As for people's glasses wearing preferences, it suits some people more than others, and it's their prerogative to choose. Some people look better with glasses than without and vice versa.

I cannot remember a time I did not wear glasses. They almost seem to be organically part of me at this point, and when I take them off, which is extremely rarely...there is a whole different person behind the spectacles...To be honest it kind of creeps me the hell out, so I keep them on to recognize the person starting back at me in the mirror. Yet everyone says and I quote, "Oh my god, you look so handsome without your glasses, why don't you get contacts or eye surgery, you'll have girls clawing at your doors", I even had a few say I would make it great in male modeling if I ditched the glasses and got bit more muscular. I shit you not, several people have more or less said that to me....My answer? Well while the prospect of finding a potential life partner is appealing, I do not like the idea of shoving things into my eye nor do I like the idea of risking blindness should I choose surgery. Until there is a 100% safety guarantee that I won't go blind, those lasers can respectfully stay away from my retinas. Plus, people and myself think I look pretty intelligent with my glasses...which is a value I hold in high esteem. To have an aesthetic that accurately represents a facet of who I am as a person is something I greatly appreciate.

So I guess if you haven't already figured it out by now...I am for glasses.

Super duper easy glasses flowchart.

1. Are you a girl?

Yes: Wear glasses
No: Move on to question 2.

2. Do you need glasses?

Yes: Wear glasses
No: Up to you bud.

Well, i am bound to mine (Can't tolerate contacts - too blind without glasses) and they are ANNOYING like hell. Can't wear them in water/rain obscures vision, can't fit into renaissance fairs/LARP (Man i was pretty much too blind to find my friends in battle or to recognize people)

And when you are jumping around in a canyon-survival tour you have to take care not to lose them into the ABYSS forever.

Wished i didn't need them.

But yeah, i do look more intelligent/refined with them, and i can stylishely reset them while thinking which gives me more "gravitas" (Same as stroking my beard *g*)

Glasses are always the best choice hands down this can't be argued. With glasses it is so much easier and all the different styles you can get while arbitrary makes for some fun shopping. That and I also have transition shades which are the best in my opinion.

Plus you can do cool anime poses in the mirror with you glasses and you can stealth flip people off in the vain of fixing your glasses.

So glasses are always the best come at me contact serfs.

I've got pretty bad vision, so in defence of my delicate self-esteem, glasses are sexier than no glasses. BLARG!

In honesty, it depends on the glasses. My dad wore aviator-style glasses which makes him look very dorky. The selection of offensively nerdy Hawaiian shirts and beige cargo shorts don't help.

My girlfriend picked glasses that make her look like a hipster, something she doesn't appreciate. Then again, she's cute with them so that's a point in their favour.

Some people will look better without glasses. Me? I need something to obscure my face.

Ditto. They're handy as hell. I used to have clip-on shades but they were lost.

My glasses are also featherweights because they'd be heavy and delicate otherwise.

Also, for the sake of full disclosure, I did try contacts at the clinic. I promptly freaked out and wouldn't let anyone touch my eyes. I was there for three goddamn hours being a sissy because anytime someone would attempt to remove them, I'd squirm like an animal being captured in the wild. Too embarrassing an experience to try again.

I wear contacts simply because my eyes are so bad if I wore glasses they would seriously be Coke bottles (for those of you who know a thing or two about eyes, my prescription level is -11). But I have been very tempted as of late to pick up some of those clear sunglasses that are in style just to see how I like it.
I have a colleague who has -18. She has to wear contacts AND glasses at the same time. Says that without them she just sees static.

I quite like myself with glasses, keep meaning to go try contacts but I'm rather phobic about shit in my eyes so I've never actually gotten the courage to take that plunge.
I do however hate wearing glasses. It's been like 8 years now since I started wearing them full time, and I'm still not used to it.

I love glasses on guys. And I'm straight until I see I girl with really nice glasses. I've worn them since childhood for most of my waking hours to the point where it kind of feels weird without them, though I wouldn't pass up the chance to get lasik if I had the cash.

Depends on the glasses. Smaller ones can improve the appearance, but I wouldn't say the same for big blocky ones with thick brown ridges.

I don't mind glasses. They're just like any other article someone can wear on their person.

As for myself, I wear glasses and I like it. People tell me I should try for contacts and that I look better without them. They get me to take pics without glasses sometimes.

But I cringe at the thought of putting my finger directly on my eye so it's just not happening.
