As for me, I don't think it's dead. I just think it's on hold. Indefinitely. Actually a lot of pop or rap music recycles the same notes and beats from classical music, which I love.

As long as Koji Kondo is alive, I still hold hope for music. ^_^

People here seem to be thinking that popular music is music, which isn't the case. There's still plenty of good and great music being made, no matter what your tastes. You just have to know where to look.

OT: I'd stop other time travelers from preventing World War II. We'd probably lose a lot of good music without that war.

I would keep it the same. Everything that's happened musically is a result of past events.


But if I was gonna ignore the whole fate let it be bs, I would probably put John Bonham in the HAINES position to keep him alive. I would save Freddie Mercury and probably Bon Scott. Those are just my top three, music has too many figures who died just as they were getting interesting.

I wouldn't bring back any dead guys either. It's easy to deify people who died before they ran out of creativity... if Kurt Cobain was alive today for instance he'd probably be making crap music these days like almost all the other guys from his scene who are still alive...

Well, pearl jam were doing pretty well until their last two albums. Though it has been 10 years since they've made a great album... I do however think it's completely unfair for everyone to dismiss what they've done post vs/vitalogy, I think No Code or Binaural is far better than their earlier stuff. Oh, wait, why am I ranting? Oh well.

I guess I wouldn't change anything really, I'm pretty happy with where music is at right now.

What's wrong with Pantera? They're absolute classics.

Pantera also spawned BFMV and Disturbed.

Why i have a quarell? Well most of these bands are commercialised metal, and Pantera in a way spawned them, and i generally despise commercialism within metal.

Also i dont see anything particular that is classic about Pantera.

So it is not Pantera you want to eliminate, just some of the bands that idolized Dimebag? I suppose I can agree with you then. Pantera was a fantastic band with memorable riffs, and at the time fairly unique style. I can't stand some doom metal, but I don't fault Sabbath for crafting the mold most doom metal bands are cut from.

Lamb of God isn't as heavy or amazing as their hardcore fans seem to believe. That being said, their music is fairly complex and interesting (clearly my opinion), and they hold a place in my heart as the first and possibly only NWOAM band I enjoy. Plus the put on a hell of a show when I saw them.

Poor musicianship and a wannabe metal attitude spawned BFMV and Disturbed: Pantera's music was just there to be.... defiled.

No, that wasn't sarcasm. We just have different tastes in music. That, and I was lazy to search more than the first bands that popped out in my mind.

If I would've been sarcastic, I would have said "This is the best music ever."

playing music before a crowd is a service and selling music on cds is a product.
