If I recall, the cold is a kind of virus with millions of strains - that's why it's impossible to cure. Sure you could cure a single strain, but that's not going to help you all that much. I mostly just grump about it and get on with my day, but mostly I don't suffer colds all that severely.

That said, I will milk it so that people will make me cups of tea and stuff, and sometimes, especially when it's at that stage where it makes your body feel like jelly, I end up cuddled up under my blanket and complaining loudly.

I also eat spicy food, because I hate it when my nose is blocked, and spicy food never fails to open it right back up.

A viral respiratory infection caused by a wide variety of viruses--that's why there's no vaccine for it. Most of the symptoms are caused by your immune system reacting to and fighting off the virus.

The only thing you can really do is get plenty of rest and fluids and manage the symptoms with your favorite over-the-counter cold medication. Antibiotics are useless against viruses, so don't bother.

Frog down your pants.
Smother him all around. Works every time.

All I can actually recommend is lots of sleep. I'm a lazy, generally inconsiderate kind of guy, so other people usually do all the looking after me and getting me better while I handle the napping.

I had a cold last weekend and for some reason a fan blowing air into my nostrels cleared them right up. Surprised the hell out of me, I was not expecting it to work. I doubt it will ever work again in a million years though.

Hot shower, medicine, lots of water and staying in bed. Hope you feel better soon.
I don't have any medicine, but I can cram down some more water. Thanks for the advise.
Then have a hot drink, herbal tea or something.

I drown colds. I drink more water and juice than is probably healthy, but I can usually get over a cold in a day.

I've got a cold atm, not as bad as yours, just the can't breathe through nose one. So I've got one of those inhailers permanently up my nose.

My general diet doesn't include such items, hell my diet would pretty much kill everyone that tried it. So I don't have anything like that in my possesion, the best thing I have is Orange juice and water. Thanks again and I'll be sure to get those things later.

I had a cold the two days ago, and was seeing my girlfriend yesterday. No way would I give that to her, so I took an unhealthy amount of Lemsip (cold and flu relief) and Vitamin C tablets, oranges, orange juice and lemon water. Was gone in a day!

God damn colds, always making me sick enough for it to be a pain in the ass but not sick enough for me to stay home from school.

[sub]Ice cream tends to work quite well for me.[/sub]

Hot showers and menthol vapor help a lot. Also if I work out when I have a cold I feel a lot better afterwards.

If you have some peppermint oil (or tea for that matter) get your self a bowl of boiling water, add the oil, stick your head over the bowl so the steam is all over your face and put your trusty hitch-hikers towel over your head so the steam can't escape. Then just sit there. It won't cure anything but it will clear your airways and make you feel better.
