No... Just no. Now they fucked it up completely. Why would he jump off a cliff rather than becoming the God of War?

Okay I can sort of see the logic, in that Hades has his family down in the Underworld and such, but given that Hades is just doing his job and it isn't really his fault, that doesn't make much sense. Kratos may be violent, but he's always got actual motives.
I would love it if they kept the doppelganger scene though, that was awesome

Doesn't sound too bad, but wasn't he already in Hades in the first GoW? And in the second? I mean, I wouldn't see his motivation for doing that, Hades hasn't done anything to him I believe.
I imagine that they're going to implant the motivation "he's going to Hades to get his family back" or something of the like, but that's just my theory. Either that or they'll make one movie for every god.

Oh, and doesn't this "force" them to change the name of the sequel, giving that there will only be an actual "God of War" in the first one?
The second one might be called God of the Underworld?
That would remove all the sympathy for him though!

On that other idea wouldn't Kratos become the God of War, so maybe the idea is that he's taking down the other God's to become the One True God pretty much.
Yeah, but I thought that he didn't become a god until he sat on the throne of the late Ares, giving that he could commit suicide directly after killing him. Oh well, I guess it isn't definite science, this god-business.

Also, I don't think that works either, since Kratos isn't meant to be simply power-hungry. As said before, he only kills people who have pissed him off and those who get in his way of getting revenge on the former.
He might just have a grudge with the gods as a whole though. And come to think of it, he always did want to bring glory to Sparta...

Hopefully they won't butcher the game but then again when you go to watch a movie like Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros you don't watch it to take it seriouslyi n any stretch of the imagination you watch it as a fun laid back pointless movie and take the piss out of it with friends.

A video-game-based movie isn't sticking directly to the source material? I am shocked. SHOCKED, I say.

...if you'll excuse me, I need to call an ambulance now. I seem to have burst my sarcasm gland.

If the movie is pretty much going to copy the entire first game, then they shouldn't change the ending. The first game's ending was just fine. Enough so that they were still able to make a second game, and now they are working on the third.

But leave it to Hollywood to bastardize something purely for monetary gain through terrible sequels.

I'm...so very hesitant. Do we even want a God of War Movie? The story is supposedly sealed after the third installment, with a definitive end to the story. The other two games were prequels, but even chains of olympus felt a bit pointless, and that useless cell-based game was about as good as a clump of mud. And watching Kratos go from someone with real motive to be pissed off against one of the gods, and anyone that the gods throw into his way, into another useless hollywood character who just wants blood, judging by that bit about him throwing himself into, assumedly, Hades...

Maybe a cinematic of the Giant Mechanical Minotaur fight could sell me...

This.... this is still being made?!?!

Good lord, I didn't see that one coming. I mean, videogame movies not being made by Uwe tend to go into "development" and we hear nary a peep about them afterwards.

As with regards to the ending change: I don't like the idea of them following the game's story right up till the ending. History would suggest that's a bad idea. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mist]
