Well, my mouse just stopped working a couple minutes ago. I've only just managed to stop miming over the mousepad...
I'm typing this on my laptop, and the touchpad thingy is a huge pain in the arse to use. So:

What the hell kind of mouse should I get? Considering I know fuck-all about these things, I thought I'd ask you guys.

And for discussion: What accessories could you live without, but would really hate to lose? Not limited to computer accesories.

[sub]Turns out I haven't got over the miming. Grrr...[/sub]

I hate to be without my computer mouse, but I can live without it.
It broke down around christmas, so I've been using the touchpad for months. I feel your pain.

I remember once, mid way through Lich King heroic 10man, My mouse battery ran out, with my camera facing upwards for some reason. Had to do the rest of the fight judging where I was from my minimap!

I'd just go for a default microsoft one, they're cheap and tend to work.

Thats my favorite model :) The little back button under the mouse wheel is great!

Bloody hell, how on earth did you manage that? Or did you not manage at all and die?

I think I'll get the one with lights on...

That sucks, I really can't use my computer without a mouse either.

I use a logitech, wireless laser mouse. I'm not sure your preference in mouse types but I'm not too picky as to what kind of mouse I have except that I prefer wireless so I don't get a bunch of wires tangled.

I got my mouse at Target or something, it's a cheapo Microsoft one, only 20$. But, it's yet to fail me, and the battery life lasts a couple months with just one AA, so hell... it's a good deal.

EDIT: OH, hell, people already posted my mouse as an idea. Didn't realize this little thing was that popular :D

I rarely use a mouse nowadays, because I actually like the touchpad. Took a while to adjust to it, but now I find it really easy to do most things with it.

The mouse I use is whatever I can find for really cheap. But then again, I don't use it much, so it doesn't matter. >_>

You must have a nice laptop, takes four strokes to get from one side of the screen to the other on mine. Annoying. T.T

I too would recommend that you just get a basic Microsoft wireless mouse. I bought mine about two years ago, and it still works just fine. It just uses a single AA battery, and it'll last anywhere from four to six months depending on how often you use it.

My laptop is actually quite bad. Especially when it comes to being able to play games, because it just can't. >_>

The touchpad is probably one of the best parts, because it does work quite well.

On yours though, you should be able to adjust sensitivity to rectify that problem.

The gaming limit of mine is being able to play Overlord a bit slowly. (Specs go right over my head, so maybe you can work out how good it is from that. Maybe.)

Oooooor I could buy a mouse. Problem Solved!

I can't play Portal or Minecraft without a significant amount of lag, more or less making the games unplayable. That's about as much testing as I've done. Thankfully, I should be getting a new laptop soon.

And yeah, I suppose that will solve your problem. :p

I haven't tried playing Portal, but Minecraft Classic plays quite laggy. So I guess our laptops are somewhat similar. I'll be getting a new Xbox soon, so that'll keep me occupied until I can save up enough to buy a better one...

I'm using a laptop as well, so when my wireless mouse dies, I just change the battery.
Problem solved.

I'm using a wireless Logitech mouse.

Relatively inexpensive, VERY responsive, comfortable grips on the sides, and the USB adapter is so small you can just plug it into your computer and forget it. No worries at all about moving your arm wrong and breaking it off or anything of the sort. And if you don't wanna plug it and forget it, it fits directly inside the battery compartment for safe storage!^^

Alright, not gonna lie, I thought you were talking about this kind of Mouse, not a computer mouse at first.

However, check Amazon. They have a decent computer mouse selection. This is the one I use [http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-HKA-00001-SideWinder-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B000TTQFIS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303655867&sr=8-1].

I usually use those Genius mice (optical, with a cord) they sell cheap, sometimes without so much as a packaging box (I've seen them sold in a plastic bag :p ). They cost like 3-5 euros but do the job just fine as long as you're happy with a 3 button mouse (2+wheel), usually last me about a year or so at the minimum.
