Has anyone ever bought anything from gog.com? Are they legit and will they steal my credit card info/identity or anything? Thanks.

Wonderful selection, totally legit. Buy everything so they'll get off their asses and get the rights for System Shock 2.

They are legit, but they had nothing to do with those games and many dev studios that made those games have long passed away.
If you buy there, you're just supporting the Witcher devs, which is cool if you want to that.

Err, i don't see why shop would have anything to do with it's products other than selling them.

Also, if you buy there you're not only supporting the Witcher devs... i heard that when you purchase games there, you receive the games you had purchased - for free! ;)

They're one of the best game outlets on the internet. Excellent support, prices and great content.

I bought FALLOUT 1 and 2 there for 6 bucks each and steam had them priced at 12 bucks each. From what I can tell so far they are perfectly legit.

gog.com is the best digital delivery service. I wish there was an equivalent for more modern games.

I really like Gog.com, bought a bunch of games there, no problem at all running them or anything, it's really great. Also, their selection expands from time to time as they get more and more deals with the publishers, so what's not to love?

Well, there are online game retailers, Steam is one I can highly recommend. I have in the neighbourhood of 50-60 games or so, all bought there. I've encountered nothing but good service and it gets especially exciting come summer or winter time, as they have special sales around those times. That's where I bought the majority of my games on Steam seeing as some of those offers are simply too good to refuse.

gog.com - DRM Free. Do not need to utilise gog.com service in order to play a game. Implies actual ownership of a game.

Steam - Essentially a glorified DRM service. All games are tied to Steam. Does not imply ownership of a game.

Let's just say I'm not quite ready to get in on the whole glorified licensing trend that's going around right now. The prices might be great but for me personally, that doesn't make want to use a service where I don't feel like I actually own what I pay for.

Ah, okay, I misunderstood you then, my bad.

I don't really have a problem with that, people have a right to their own opinions. I still like Steam, but then again, as I said, I've never encountered any problems at all with them/it. I hear what you're saying about the DRM, but I guess I haven't really given it much thought to be honest, as I have Steam running on all of my computers and because of that always have access to whatever game on there I would want to play.

As for actual DRM-free platforms I don't really seeing it coming anytime soon, what with all the talk about piracy and DRM from publishers, so I don't really have any suggestions now.

+1 recommendation for GoG. Picked up Freespace 2 from them and will definitely pick up any old school games from them if I feel like playing one again

I bought a really good book from there, maybe you've heard of it, it's called "Planescape: Torment"

Jokes aside, yes, they're straight.
And PS:T, barring the combat, is excellent.

Definitely a great service. You can download the games as many times as you want and all without any DRM. The best part about them is that all of there games have been optimized to run on modern operating systems. So there's no messing with Dos Box or hunting around for fan patches.

I buy, on average, one game per month from them. They're completely legit, everything goes smoothly and they don't store your creditcard information at all. Which get's slightly annoying if you're buying a gift and something for yourself as then you have to enter everything twice.
But, small annoyance and one I'm willing to allow.

To be fair, PS:T does contain about 900 pages worth of text.. which is actually slightly less than Game of Thrones. Which is an absolutely massive book.

I do agree on this being an excellent game. One of my favourites infact.
"pro"tip, there are only 4 fights that are actually necessary in the entire game. Most others you can either talk your way out of or run from. Which I think is a pretty nice touch.
