I love her. I was going to see her when she comes to Edmonton, but the cheapest tickets ($60) are situated in the attic of the stadium... No thanks. Next time, though...

I usually don't listen to too much pop. But I'm not biased against it, unlike some people who think POP = TEH DEVIL OMGZ. In fact, I listen to everything, so it's not a big surprise I like her. But my friend's don't; most of them think she's too weird.

And people need to shut up about the LOL MR GAGA IM NEW AND INGENIOUS like this guy:

God, I love her so much. I think her music is amazing, her stage persona is the most fascinating creature in pop culture, and her performances are mind-blowing (I saw her on New Year's Eve).

My fiance says I am her only non-gay fan she knows...

I totally adore Lady GaGa <3
I used to be not interested in her, as I thought she was going to be one of those passing fads, until I started to research her a bit more. After I found a video of her playing a piano and actually singing, and I gained a large amount of respect for her. The fact that she can actually play the piano and has a strong singing voice that isn't masked, oh and that she doesn't lip sync, I think is something you can respect her for. She also writes her songs, which is more than you can say with most pop starts. Sure you can say they're not the best in the world, but Madonna started out with such works as Material Girl before moving on to more mature things as she got older.

So hey, for those that don't like Lady Gaga, cool whatever, you can like whatever you like. But I think she at least deserves some form of respect since she actually writes and composes her music. We're only seeing the very surface of her abilities, who knows how she could progress in the years later on.

Oh and to add, I just love her costumes. The fact that she designs them herself is totally awesome to me. I grew up in theater so I have a real love for that sort of thing.

I've started to listen to her as well. I don't really like the lyrics, but her songs are really catchy.

I love her more less well known songs, rather than the mainstream popular "Poker Face", "Just Dance", etc. As someone above said "Browneyes" is a beautiful song, but "Lovegame" is my fav.
I tend to listen to The Lonely Island, QOTSA, Lost Prophets, Maroon 5 and Great Big Sea as well as Lady Gaga.

(It's my dad's fault really. He bought her album :D)

I've loved Gaga since the start. I own both her albums and I went to one of her concerts recently with a friend (check my profile for a pic of us dressed up gaga-style before we left) :p I think she's fucking awesome.

It's not weird for me though, as this generally is my type of music.

If you want deep and *yawn* meaningful lyrics, stick on something no-one else will listen to. My Mp3 players has Pearl Jam, Lady Gaga, The Bee-gees, The Beatles, Rachmaninoff, Muse, Cradle of Filth, Sisters of Mercy, ELP, Rachel Stevens, Philharmoic Orchestra, Apollo 440, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Massive Attack, Jean Michel Jarre, Blondie, Guns and Roses & Weird Al.
What, that's all? That's not nearly enough variety*! You must have a small mp3 player.

Also, Philharmonic Orchestra? Either there's actually a band called that (you never know), or you're missing a word like "London" or whatnot - just saying "Philharmonic Orchestra" is rather like referring to The Beatles as "popular band" in terms of specificity.
There's a lot of philharmonic orchestras is my drift.
[hr][small]*Unless that was meant to be an open-ended list, in which case I submit that it failed at that purpose, as that gives every impression it's an all-inclusive list, and 19 is not really an especially large number.[/small]

I have never noticed how her music gave her personality, it was just uniteresting to me. She's a good singer but I find her music boring.

The only pop I can tollerate is Korean 90s pop & Japanese pop that doesn't sound Westernized but rather sugar coated & childish or has a soft techno or rock element to it. For me, no one beats TommyFebruary6.

I do not like her, sorry

Her album was playing in Cex when I was in there and my chum was making purchases, it was mind numbing :(

I don't personally like her music. It seems to me that she is writing some very generic sounding pop songs and then making them sell by being weird. I have nothing against her, I just find her music rather dull.
I am glad you don't care about being shunned for liking something, so many people are mind numbingly shallow these days.

Hate her. She's an idiot. Like, really. She said that people liked her because "noone ever sung about sex before".

WHAT. I'm sorry, how old is Chuck Berry?

She also compared herself to Andy Warhol. Shut up woman, you are nowhere near that.
Just the "no one has ever sung about sex before" thing is enough to wonder if she listens to music. As I've mentioned, her name is taken from the Queen song "Radio Gaga", so they're the only ones I know that she likes, and it really pisses me off that she might even make a comparison between herself and Queen.

And comparing music to painting is the utmost in pretension. Anyone watching Annie Hall should see how much Woody Allen makes fun of those kinds of people.

I haven't heard much of it except for a few songs somewhere in some mall.

I don't think I like it, although who knows. I prefer darker themes in my music, but generally I listen to everything.

I've got to give her one thing, some of the costumes are pretty cool. Maybe so called dreaded "pop" no longer looks the way I think it does/should, but mainly as a listener of "alternative music" who knows very little of what people consider "pop", I assume that her fucked up costumes aren't exactly the norm in that field.

So I have to approve whenever someone breaks the traditions.

I don't know why people keep saying she's different from other pop artists, I really don't. The main argument I hear is that she writes her own songs, but that just gets her the label of artist, it doesn't make her different in any way. Also the lyrics she writes are the standard pop formula from what I can tell.

Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing wrong with liking 'Pop' music. I like some of Lady Gaga's music. It is really solid dance/club music.

Lady Gaga is huge right now, and so she is an easy target for the haters. You know, the people who can't understand why speed death metal isn't on the top of the charts, etc... Just as an example...
